With how well the starting lineup has been playing, I don't want their chemistry to be affected right now. Thoughts?

He should start. Want to get that trade value up as high as possible.

No he should neither start or come off the bench.

I think it may be better. With his foot problems, he may have a tough time keeping up with the current running pace of the first unit.

Plus I like the chemistry he has with Smith whenever they're on the court together. A PPat-Smith front court could do some damage off the bench.

Often a starter returning from an injury will come off the bench for a few games anyway, as his minutes are gradually ramped up.

But I think the OP means it in the sense that Patterson gets a bone bruise in his foot and so shouldn't be a starter anymore, because his replacement in the starting lineup has not been horrible?

Sounds reactionary to me. You don't demote a man because he gets injured. Just be happy the Rockets have depth at the position.

He might actually play better being the 6th man.

i have a nickname for 2pat, 2 p***y 2 pat, because he seems to only take mid range jumpers and doesn't post, or grab rebounds. but i have to admit, this style works for him.

morris seems to be a similar type of player, but he seems to have a better 3 point shot. thoughts? who is the better player so far this season and what are the differences in their game?

That trade value isn't getting much higher than it is now. The only true value he has is that he has another year on his rookie scale contract for a contender looking for a role player. If we don't trade him by the deadline, it will drop fast.

The coaching staff seems to have made very good decisions about the players rotations. I assume they will make an appropriate decision here.

I'll say Patterson should come off the bench until the team struggle. So far, they're playing well under Morris...so let's keep it going.

I agree, the coaching staff may want to limit his minutes because of this ongoing injury, so coming off the bench may make sense. Unfortunately, I am somewhat pessimistic about PPat coming back from this injury this year. It seems that right now they are just giving him a rest and hoping that he recovers. All last year he tried to get well, and then this year he is still not well. It just doesn't look good to me.

Friedman was on CBSSports Eye on Basketball podcast last week talking about the Rockets. He said the major concern about PPatt was his injury-prone nature - I hope the dude recovers and has a long NBA career :(

Best BeeBeard post in a month! I agree with every part of this. I love what Morris has done with the starts, but he has to beat PPat out of the position once PPat is given the starting job back.

Morris is averaging about 15.5 ppg, 3.5 reb, 1.8 assists in 30 minutes. The big deal to me is his FG% being over 50%. If the % is not an outlier, he'll win the starting position.

we're a faster, mobile team with Morris as a starter. ppat bogs us down.
