But then there are those from the same era that don't agree and don't understand. It's not like Rob Parker speaks for black population from his era. What he said was dumb and ignorant. I don't see the connection between speaking about Cornball brothers vs real brothers while not having any facts or insight into RGIII's character and the Civil Rights era.

DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL Players Association, told The Washington Post in an email Friday:

    What a dip****

By that whole show is an idiot's convention. Rob Parker, Skip Bayless, and SAS are far and away the 3 biggest idiots in sports TV.

You know you crossed the line when Stephen A. has to put you in your place.
The day ESPN consistently talks about the x's and o's of a sport rather than this b***s*** is the day I will actually start tuning into their network.

At one point they were having an in depth discussion on what RGII's "braids" mean. How do these people make money doing this?

Rob Parker is cool. What he said isn't any worse or dumber than what is said on First Take on a daily basis. SAS and Bayless are both idiots. Suspending him is hypocritical when that show is always boasting about how "no topic is off limits" and how they aren't afraid to talk about things that no one else will. I think Rob let his guard down due to that. I don't even consider it a sports show. You're never going to get any serious sports analysis on that show unless they bring in a rare knowledgeable guest. They had Regis Philbin on for like 2 hours today. Regis Philbin. The show is a joke.

Does something overtly racist and offensive qualify for that?

    Obviously not in ESPN's eyes:

    I don't recall a suspension for that.

What he said was racist. He claimed having a white fiancee meant a black person isn't a real brother (points off RG3's black card :rolleyes:). That seems like pretty straight forward racism. Racism is not 'cool'.

    So they suspended him

    http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/8747379/espn-suspends-rob-parker-robert-griffin-iii-comments

    ESPN suspends Rob Parker

ESPN has suspended commentator Rob Parker for comments he made regarding Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said: "Following yesterday's comments, Rob Parker has been suspended until further notice. We are conducting a full review."
Parker, appearing on ESPN's "First Take" on Thursday, was asked about Griffin's role as a black quarterback. Parker questioned Griffin's "blackness."
"Is he a brother or a cornball brother?" said Parker, who is black.
Later, he said he wanted to find out more about Griffin and how he deals with black teammates and others in Washington.
"We all know he has a white fiancée," he said. "There was all this talk about he's a Republican, which, there's no information [about that] at all. I'm just trying to dig deeper as to why he has an issue. Because we did find out with Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods was like, I've got black skin, but don't call me black. So people got to wondering about Tiger Woods early on."
Robert Griffin II, the quarterback's father, told USA Today Sports Thursday night : "I wouldn't say it's racism. I would just say some people put things out there about people so they can stir things up."
DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the NFL Players Association, told The Washington Post in an email Friday: "Robert can certainly take care of himself. Nonetheless, I hope that our men and for that matter, my own kids, will never beg for authenticity from someone who can only talk about the things that other people have the courage to do. People need to be held accountable for the offensive things that they say."

This is one of the reasons why racism still exists in this country. Just because he has a white girlfriend and has white friends doesn't mean he isn't proud to be black. Why can't he be proud to be black and also have a white girlfriend? What is so wrong about that? What makes you say Chris Paul is proud of his race that can't be said about RGIII?

And then your last sentence... that's sums your post up entirely. You wouldn't say anything because there is NOTHING wrong with it. If there isn't integration, how do you solve segregation and racism in this country? Integration between races helps the cause. And for some reason (and it's not just you, there's a lot of people) people seem to create a controversy about people who do such things and accuse them of not being "true" to their race.

It's sad that people suddenly think it's wrong to have other races as part of their lives and also not be proud of their race at their same time or be labeled as something else.

Agreed. They are just trolling as usual but he took it too far.

Heck, ESPN wasn't even going to suspend him until the outrage built up.

Based on Rob Parkers definition of a real brother if many "real brothers' looked at him he wouldn't be considered one.
