In Atlanta Kobe Bryant has been very friendly to Yao Ming, I wonder why? Of course its because he knows Yao Mings mind set and he can understand where he is coming from. He is experienced in the oriental ways and philosophy as he lived in the Orient for some time. It might be a boon to the Rockets to have their two best players on the same page. ( This is not to be take seriously, its just a wild idea!)
MFW:- I hadnt noticed the posts. When were they posted? Were they a comment following the All Star activities as mine is?
I hope Kobe didn't say something like..."after your rookie contract, Shaq will be retired and I love to have you as his replacement."
Yetti, I just realized how bad that sounded. I'm just gonna say I didn't mean any offence when I said that. Just thought since you were a senior members and all you would have seen the thread. But the general sentiment for the last Kobe trade post was not to go for him. Basically the feeling was that Kobe is selfish and we'd have Kobe and Cat taking shots away from Yao when Steve at least try to involve him. And some thought Steve could potentially be better than Kobe. There were a tiny few that thought it would be a good trade though.
WTF cares if he even did say that? Just cause Kobe says it doesnt mean it will come true. All the dumb ass bandwagoning Faker fans think that once Shaq retires Ming will go to LA anyways. I mean who wouldn't want to play for the great and mighty Lakers right? They reasoning is that they have a great history of centers: Wilt, Kareem and Shaq. As if we have had crappy centers in our franchise: Moses Malone, Hakeem, and hopefully Ming.
What can Francis do that Kobe cant? On the other hand, there are things that Kobe has over Francis. As much as I love Francis, I would have to pull the trigger on a trade to get Kobe.
It would be a good trade. Kobe's clutch during the crunch time. He has more playoff experience then our entire team minus the coaching staff. He alone has more rings then the entire Rockets organization. He's also a much bigger player then Francis, which matters a ton in in my opinion. I mean I remember people saying if Mobley was only 2 inches taller, he'd be one of the leagues premiere players. Height factors in a lot, in just exactly what a player can do. I mean look at Yao. Do you honestly think he'd have the same impact on this team if he was just 7'0? He'd still be a very fundamentally sound player, but the simple fact that he has a good 5 or 6 inches on almost any player in the league makes a huge difference. It's part of what makes him such a good passer, and shooter. Anyhow, I don't think Kobes as selfish as people make him out to be. His team alone simply isn't that good minus Shaq. I mean would you want the rest of the Lakers staff to have an evenly dispersed amount of shots knowing that they're not that good a shooters in the first place? Also, lets add in the fact, that Kobe already has a ton of experience in knowing how to feed the ball to a big man. He knows how to use a big man to his advantage. And he's still a pretty young player. I love Francis, but I'd trade him in a heartbeat for that deal.
Kobe is, bar none, the best player in the NBA, skills-wise. He can do everything, when he wants, how he wants. There's the argument that when Shaq was out, Kobe couldn't lead the Fakers to more wins. Well, put any good SG out there (like Pierce, Iverson, Ray Allen, etc.) and he wouldn't be able to do anything either with all the crappy teammates. Mobley probably wouldn't lead them to ONE win. I hate Kobe with a passion, just like I did with the old MJ. But they are the best of their generations. I wouldn't understand why the Rox would keep Stevie if Kobe was offered.
Please, this is getting silly. No chance. Ever. That said, of course! Francis and anyone else but Yao. Yaoza! That combo could play with total scrubs from the W-NBA and still dominate.
Equal talent? hahahaha. Usually I agree with 99% of your posts DaD, but this one is insane! Kobe is more of a PG than Francis is, despite being a SG. Kobe plays 10X's more defense than Francis.
Talent. Steve is the most talented point guard in the league. Period. Faster, stronger, jumps higher. He just hasn't done as much with this talent as, say, Jason Kidd or Gary Payton. Steve is every bit as talented as Kobe, he just hasn't done as much with it. Give him time...he'll be here for at least another 6 years.
