I applaud Newman being inducted, and agree the album is great. But I always skip the song "You Can Leave Your Hat On"

    Precisely

You guys do realize that the longer time goes on, the less valuable future inductees are going to be, right???

I mean hell.. We have about 3 official Rock and Roll acts active today lol. For them to continue keeping the annals of Rock alive, they're going to have to keep compromising what got the initial greats inducted in the first place..

Then again.. Maybe that's why they're not so quick to throw in some of the groups that fans have been complaining about that hasn't been included yet. They're trying to avoid thinning out the nominees too soon.

Yes...if your taste in music sucks.

And the funny thing is those who would call Rush crappy would adore Yes, and call Newman crappy while revering Elvis Costello, and call Heart crappy while worshiping Joan Jett, and call Public Enemy crappy while deifying Run DMC. Hilarious.

The people that complain about Abba, Donna Summer, Madonna, etc. forget that it's not the ROCK HALL OF FAME, it's the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. Big difference. Fats Domino, Simon and Garfunkel- heck, even most of Bob Dylan's stuff is more roll than rock- do they not deserve to be in??

I respect them all, but Abba, Donna Summer, and Madonna do NOT deserve to be in the Rock & Roll HOF, no. Neither does Public Enemy. I love what PE did with Anthrax, but PE is NOT a rock band.

The Hall is either a joke or it's horribly confused/been in a state of identity confusion for all of its existence. Call it the Pop Music HOF, and I could accept it. Add in the various sub-genres of pop music (rock, hip-hop, etc.), and I could accept it. But don't call it rock & roll and then add non-rock acts year after year while other deserving rock bands are left out year after year.

Alex Lifeson of Rush said you should call it the Music Hall of Fame. I agree that Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is just not representative of who is actually inducted and defies the meaning of the words Rock and Roll.

There are plenty of bands that deserve to be in and hopefully inducting Rush in will help usher in these other deserving bands in the future. I think we will start to see some of these bands come up on future ballots. It's just a matter of time.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has nothing to do with Rock and Roll.

    It is all about fame.

It lost all credibility with me when Madonna was inducted.

You can definitely say that pretty much all music has been influenced by pure rock and roll in some form through the evolution of time. I guess that's the only way these inductions make sense.

I just view some of these genres as more tangential to rock and roll.
