Texan's the last few games have been very prone to giving up large pass plays this season. The few times the Texan's have run a zone defense, they have been pretty successful. Against an elite qb, and when you have CB's like Harris in, why not?

Why not just put a bounty on Tom Brady's head? Much easier.

Our defense gave our offense plenty of opportunities. The best defense against the Patriots is to keep their offense off field. Something our offense failed to do. The defense stopped them 4 times in a row.

I think either way Houston is screwed against an elite QB. Especially against NE. They have so many guys who are smart enough to sit in the voids in the D in zone. Welker, Gronk, Hernandez are all beasts and can beat the zone easily. Zone may contain NE a bit better, but 7-8 yard passes are still going to get you down the field. The Texans just sucked on 3rd down tonight and you can't win like that.

I honestly have been wondering the same thing.

I get that it's Wade's system to play this way, but without Cushing and with Jonathan Joseph not himself, it's not working.

i'm a Schaub defender but he utterly failed tonight. the endzone TD was inexcusable and when the defense finally made several stops Schaub couldn't do much with his chances.

He started to force it and do too much.

He just can't do that early in the game.

people overlook the fact that Brady and his team made plays...to get up to 21-0...we didnt...a lack of a fumble recovery early (0-0)...late lining up on a Hernandez TD... hard bite on the Play Action...imagine what couldve happened if Dobbins hit the person with the ball in his hand...in Tom Brady(this play resulted in a huge completion)...bc he crushed the RB...after that Ill give you the fact that the defense stepped up..and gave the Texans 3- outs..only to have nothing materialize with the Texans offense

He missed a super wide open Foster...that couldve walked in for the TD...we have two dynamic play makers in AJ, and Arian Foster...give them the damn ball...and make sure it gets there...Bill knew you were gonna go to Walter...hence why the safety was so deep...shouldve checked it down...

Aside from the first two drives and that one sequence out of a movie with the fumble, the starting defense did decent. The offense constantly getting their backsides kicked in, plus the good field positioning they were getting thanks to special teams and turnovers are what made the defense look bad.

This isn't how the NFL works; teams don't change who and what they are from week to week. The Texans are built to play a certain way - they can't radically change that; not in a week and certainly not on the fly during a game.

If they're not getting after the passer, the secondary is going to get burned.

Wade's defense works when the line is able to get to the QB. If they're not, the LB/CB/S are pretty much put on the spot. No matter how good that secondary is, they're not perfect. They make a mistake and it's almost certainly a touchdown. Either you improve the pass rush, get perfect CBs, or change the scheme.
