Did anyone catch the reverse baseline mini-windmill against Spree? It was quite a show from Bryant and quite a dunk.
Kobe was on fire the entire game and it`s a good thing becuase the Lakers needed each and every point as they tried to give the Knicks the game in the 4th Quarter. As much as I dislike the guy I have to say he can take over any game against any team.
Yes, saw the jam; ranks up there with the Jordan highlight against LA that is always run (switching hands from right to left while in midair for the soft lay-in), or the V. Carter over the 7 foot whatever french guy. Don't much like Kobe, but damn, couldn't believe what I saw.
As much as people hate on Kobe, the guy is incredible. There isnt weak area in his game. He can shoot, pass, rebound, play defense, etc... His numbers are ridiculous.
Especially when he doesn't even face something resembling a double team due to that Big Fat Ass down low. How exactly was Kobe carrying the Lakers when Shaq was out?
If you watched the game, the Knicks threw everything and the kitchen sink against Kobe once he got hot. Lakers supporting cast gave Kobe nothing when Shaq was out. Watch those games.
THAT WAS SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Kobe is the man. AT FIRST, I KNEW KOBE WAS TEH BEST. Then I saw T-Mac play and I thought he was better. BUT KOBE IS REALLY THE BEST. Kobe has people all over him and he scores NICELY. He is great. He is SMART too. HE IS EVERYTHING. He has MANY TRIPLE DOUBLES. And MANY DOUBLE DOUBLES. That was just a great dunk.
Kobes in a league of his own recently i mean his creativity reminds me of how jordan used to score hes literrally unstopable and hes only 24... theres no doubt in my mind the lakers will repeat this year..and not to mention his defense is off the hook
Oooph. I had to upchuck in the bathtub -- the old bowl was too small. Is this a Laker thread or what!!?
I agree that Kobe is great; I personally think he's the best SG in the league. However, you underestimate Shaq's impact. Kobe may be unstoppable at times, but he can clearly conserve his energy better with Shaq on the court. Thus, when Kobe heats up, he's not tired from the triple teams he WOULD get when Shaq isn't there, and is able to bypass anything other teams throw at him BECAUSE he is more refreshed. Trust me, Shaq makes Kobe better.
ESPN was just (trying) to tout Kobe as the next Jordan, listing his last few games stats. Also, Shaq is propping Kobe as the MVP. It's obvious what's going on here...The NBA wants the fans to buy into this BS! If they can fool the fans into thinking that Kobe is todays Jordan, then they make more money. Well, sorry. The Lakers are Shaq's team. PERIOD. Kobe is more like Oscar, not Jordan, with the exception that Kobe tries to "act" like Jordan. Man, I wish Kobe would just be himself, and stop trying to pawn himself off as Jordan. It's sicking and fake. Face it. Kobe shoots *almost* as good as Jordan. Kobe dunks *almost* as good as Jordan. Kobe drives *almost* as good as Jordan. Almost is not Jordan. And it surely isn't better than Jordan. Kobe, keep winning those rings, behind Shaq. This is why Yao has such a great following. He acts like himself. Not like Hakeem, not like Kareem, not Wit. Just Yao. Truly unique. Genuine.
Why so much hate DavidS? Have you seen any Laker games this year besides the Ming -O'neal matchup? How's this quote for debunking your negative energy: Shaq: " Kobe is no doubt the MVP. He's playing well, he's killing everybody, he has energy, he's carrying the Lakers and carrying me ." Jammal Tinsely, "Kobe is doing the same things that MJ did...like what he did to the Knicks last night, he can do what he wants, you can't stop him.' Caron Butler, "It's like they took Kobe's head and put it on MJ's body. He's the best out there." No one is asking you to worship Kobe, but your obvious hate for a single player is as visible as a pink neon light.
I really don't get the I-hate-Kobe theme here. If it is because of his brash attitude, I think that would be the wrong reason. Without that attitude, most NBA elites wouldn't be were they are. McTrady goes into third person when talking about himself once and awhile, Vince screams and shakes rather excessively after a dunk, but that doesn't bother me. If you can prove it, you can do it. Saying he is more valuable than Shaq is just laughable because we all know Shaq is the focus of that team, but to say Kobe is a Pippen player or without Shaq, he would be nothing would be wrong, too. He's a great player and has potential to be the Jordan of this era. Please note, the Jordan of this era, not particularly meaning he'll be like Mike or better than Mike, but the player that will resemble most to Jordan, because David Stern has marketed that type of player. 6'5 to 6'8 guys, we remember Grant Hill and Penny, don't we? But as of now, Kobe is not Jordan. He maybe the Jordan of this era, but he's not Jordan. It's a real tough act to follow, but considering MJ had to follow the Doc and superseded him, there is always hope.
before Shaq came to the LAKERS kobe was a nobody..i don't think anybody KNOWS the name kobe...Lakers is Shaq's team..the only reason why kobe getting all this points is because the guy take a shot at the basket on EVERY freaking play...****..i don't think anybody else on that floor wearing a lakers uniform took a shot during the knicks game...kobe is a SELFISH player....Shaq even took the Magic to the finals for God sake...when he left orlando the magic dropped way down to the bottom of the sea,,,i think kobe is trying to overthrow Shaq..to be king himself...and from history..you guys know that that's the thing that DESTROY A DYNASTY..ha ha ha SHAQ-Kobe dynasty will be destroy by themselves..ha ha ha..it's time for the Stevie-Yao Dynasty to overthrow the Shaq-Kobe dynasty..ha ha ha ha
Why? Because they (Shaq, and other players, media) are trying to prop Kobe upon another players legacy. They are saying, "Look he's like Jordan." Why do that? Why not say, "Look, he's playing his game. He's Kobe." No, they can't do that. Because it's not hype enough. The NBA and ESPN (being paid) are being smart. They know that popularizing and promoting Kobe on his own merits isn't' good enough.
