Shaq talks trash sometime; but it didn't seem that way this time. This was a pretty good article. I don't see why so many of you are b!tching; he didn't trash talk anyone on our team currently. He did state that he got Dream back later, but he didn't state that he made him retire as he stated about Smits and Sabonis.

We all know that Hakeem kick his a$$ when Shaq average more points and rebounds in Orlando;than he has with L.A..

It seems that some of you are jealous or just don't like him. Who cares. I agree with Shaq anyway about the All-star game. It means nothing, its all about Championships.

Shaq says that he disagrees with the way the All-Star voting is done, and you turn it into "trash talk" against Yao.

    Sigh...

Shaq is right. He should start, if you take it from a pure talent basis. He's the best center in the game today. Period!

Yao, is deserving to be in the All-star game. But not over Shaq. But, since the All-Star game is about popularity and talent. Yao will start. Let it be. In the future, we'll forget all about this because Yao will be the best Center.

Sane's post above sums it up perfectly. Yao will have the LAST LAUGH! And that's all that matters.

You may not see these as "trash talk", but I can tell you that's something Hakeem or Bill Russel will never say. It just shows how this guy is completely full of himself, which is why some many fans don't like him. He earned his spot on the bench and he doesn't even know it, sigh!

    Very true.

That's why I hate it when Francis starts acting this way.

It's one thing to be confident or a little cocky. But being arrogant or full-of-ones self seem more like jealousy or envy.

Let Shaq be jealous of Yao. Oh well.

All I can say is that we are taking Shaq's words way too seriously. Shaq's got a big mouth and he still hasn't learned to talk to the media after all these years. But he is still a decent person in my book.

Yao is already the 2nd best center behind Shaq in his rookie season and in many ways, Yao has shown a lot of maturity and poise rarely found in a 22-year old. I'd be jealous of us if I am not a Rox fan. :D

Ok, jeremyyang2000 and Timing, break it up.

What gets annoying is the underlying love or hate of someone that obviously arises out of a kinship with that person due to ethnicity, style of play, ideology, college they went to, food they eat, who they are dating, whatever.

If Shaq takes a shot at a Rocket, I don't care if it is a player I am not fond of, I've got his back. Period. I don't care if the guy struts down the floor like a peacock or plays so timid, his nickname should be "mouse." I don't care if he's white black, pink, purple or Dennis Rodman. I don't care if he has 1000 tatoos or thanks Jesus in every interview. When he's a Rocket, none of the other crap matters.

Hell yes, I'll criticize and whine about our players, but that's like making jokes with yoru buddies. It's allowed. But some weak ass Laker fan or Jazzhole comes in here and takes a pot shot at a Rocket, let alone an actual player from another team, they are going to get punked.

Shaq is no exception and his criticisms of Yao and stupid comments are likely the result of a guy who is worried that his celebrity is being eroded by someone else. He needs to get over himself.

NBA's promoting internet voting from Chinese fans might be a mistake after all. If no such thing, Shaq and Cuban etc won't be
able to use this excuse to blah blah at least.

oh my god, you guys know who the best center is in the NBA, and who should be starting. "SHAQ". He is not crying but thats the facts. I guess its okay that Vince is starting as well although he has only played 10 games thus far. Shaq isnt crying he said its cool. But it is unfair for them to open up the votes to foreign country's cause all their going to vote for is their players DUH! So dont be mad at Shaq, its f-ed up yes but thats how it is. And thats basically whats he's saying, "It's cool!" If the shoe was on the other foot you folks hating what be on the other side of the fence. Keep it real, and real is Shaq should be starting period. Vince shouldnt be playing, period......
You guys love facts and stats well you look the stats up, the fact will be Shaq should be starting

I don't take what Shaq says seriously. But as hard as I try I cannot get myself not to hate him. He basically said something like he's the best player in history (re the only Russell and Chamberlain made them change the game comment). No he's not that good. He has absolutely 0 skill.

I remember him saying something like Yao's only good cuz "he's 7'5 and is Chinese" or something to that effect. Well, even if Yao's 7'1 like your average center he'd still be pretty good. He can still shoot, pass and is smart. His loss of height advantage will be made up more athletic abilities, not to mention the lower chance of career ending injuries due to height. Now if it's Shaq minus about 60 pounds to the average 5 size he probably wouldn't even make it in this league.

And for the dumbass called Timing, we all know Kobe can't win without Shaq. Show me how Shaq can win it all without Kobe. And btw, Horry got them that last ring.

OK smart guy, tell me how did the foreign vote change the outcome? The ASG is largely a popularity contest any ways. And btw, a health Vince is better than Kobe (yes I said it). Just by the record of the Raptors without him says he should be at the ASG.

No one is bigger than the game. Both Shaq and Cuban need to do some serious growing up. The truth is that NBA needs Yao and not the other way around.

    Mr. SMARTMAN,
Yes the ASG is a popularity contest, but is it supposed to be that or is it supposed to be the best players in the league? I always thought the ASG was for the best players, NOTE: ALLSTARS.... Im not going to argue about this, I love Yao's game and Im happy we were fortunate we have him. But instead of calling it the ASG we should call it the PG (popularity game). Man I wonder what you would be saying if Shawn Bradley was starting over Yao and/or Shaq.. Dont act like you would be cool with it... You know you would be kinda suspect on it too... As for Vince better than Kobe... Naw I doubt it... Vince can be compared to DR.J Kobe will be compared to MJ when its all said and done. Vince has no heart. Kobe has heart.. period. Vince still is the man when it comes to dunking just like DR.J was. Im done. Peace...

Shawn Bradley is not starting the ASG and he will never start the ASG. He has no skill AND he's not popular. Yao is a star, the next big thing. Whether he's the best right now or not he will be the best in the future. Even if he doesn't become the best he's still the 2nd best C in the league right which means he deserves to be there.

Vince has no heart, that's the only dig against him. He has no heart and plays no D. But he shoots the ball better. He's already putting up similar numbers as Kobe, now imagine if he plays with heart. Btw, couple years ago people said Vince is the next MJ, NOT Kobe. Kobe also has the benefit playing with Shaq, who does Vince has to help him on offence? Antonio Davis? Out of all the stars and MJ wannabes, Kobe is the one that gets double/triple teamed the least cuz of Shaq. Wanna know how many times a healthy VC gets teamed?

NBA spokesman Tim Frank said he was unsure about how many votes came from China, but he pointed out that Yao also bested Shaq in the paper-ballot voting in the United States.

    That says it all.

shaq is jealous of yao, who seems to be loved by most fans and media. before yao, shaq was the one being embraced (even tolerated his horrendous movies and albums.) nowadays, the spotlight belongs to kobe, tmac and yao. this falling giant will fade away in two years. the lakers dynasty is over!

Only a myopic freaknik on Yao's nuts (hint... you) thinks any of that is trash talk. This is the NBA, not a miss congeniality contest or a race to see who can endorse fruit drinks and underwear first. Get a frikken clue. Shaq has rings, he has an MVP, and he didn't average any 13 points and 8 boards as a rookie either. You give credit where it is due. Shaq is the most dominant player in the game and Yao Ming hasn't done anything in this league yet. Yao Ming understands this so maybe you should too.

Why don't go start a thread about what color Yao's underwear will be for the All-Star game cause we really need just a few more meaningless Yao posts on these boards.

If the Allstar balloting is written in format for Mandarin/Cantonese? , why wasn't it done in German/Spanish/Yugoslavian etc.?

WHy did the NBA have a separate Chinese ballot? I am sure there are tons of European that don't speak English but fail to neglect the influence of Europeans in the NBA also.

Moreso, Hakeem trash David Robinson for winning the MVP award and D. Rob is one of the classiest guys around.

If this game is about the fans why is 3/4 of the all star seatings for corporate sponsors then?

Another Johnny come lately myopic nutsack riding Yao fan huh. Hey, how many rings did Magic win without Kareem? How many did Jordan win without Pippen? How many did Larry Bird win without McHale? You're sooooo insightul with your "show me how Shaq can win it all without Kobe" genius. I tell you what MF'erW, why don't you go through the list of NBA champions and tell me which ones don't count because a player had another great player next to him. That is brilliant.
