According to ESPN, Andre Miller is getting traded or most likely to be traded. Theres no doubt in my mind that Sterling won't resign all that talent. YOUNG TALENT AT THAT.

Sterling is gonna resign Brand but Sterling is one cheap b*stard (I heard that he asked the coach if he could skimp on hiring a trainer and that the coach be the trainer instead).

I think Odom, brand, Miller and Kandi are close to Max players. Magette is nice, he should get padded contract also.

I think we need to make a run at brand, its too bad we don't have a 1st round pick else we could convince him otherwise.

Also, I don't think Sterling would take Francis' $90 million contract, its just too big for Sterling to pay. So we're left with Ming, Griffin, Mobley and the rest.

I think the only way we can get Brand is to involve Ming.

I think we can always get rid of Rice and Taylor.

Brand + A.Miller + Odom for Ming + Rice + Griffin. I think it works out for both teams. Ming would be huge for LA, Ming can be used as trade bait for teams such as Golden state and the knicks. Hell, Sterling would probably trade Ming for Lebron. So it works out.

    A.Milller/Moochie
    S.Francis/C.Mobley
    Odom/ Tmo
    Brand/Taylor
    Cato/J.Collier

thats one nasty team right there, we get rid of Rice's contract and get pass first point guard and we also have an inside game with Brand.

For the Ming fans, this is reasonable. Ming may be worth more in the market value but the rockets are getting more talent with the trade.

We would be a good team with that roster. VERY GOOD TEAM.

BUT HELL NO. Yao Ming is not leaving. This board would be too busy with Yao Ming fans very pissed off.

I see your logic, but to trade Ming is simply not going to happen. You don't trade 7'5" centers, with skills to dominate a (perhpas change the) game. I was at the Lake Show when they were in the HPaq Center, and I'll tell you what, Ming was a force in that game. Just ask Shaq about his first impressions of Yao.

Brand, Odom, Miller.....................talented yes, any reason to go out on a limb to be Clippers II. BTW, how in the world would we sign all those guys? I'll take a shot at answering my own question...we can't and won't.

Bottomline: not going to happen, but I personally like your efforts to get Brand. I'd love to see him doing the dirty work in the paint, too.

With Rice's contract gone, I think we can resign A.Miller and Brand. Then maybe trade Odom for picks and a vet point guard or something.

No way we trade Yao Ming.

He is the only guy in the league that isn't all about the bling-bling. He plays team ball. He is a loyal teammate. He is actually a breath of fresh air because he doesn't feel like the league or the world owes him anything. Not to mention the fact that the guy can play.

AND HE IS 7 FREAKING 5.

If Cato is our starting center again for any reason other that Yao is hurt, then I will quit watching. It is painful enough to be a fan as it is...

Francis and Yao are off the table for the Rockets, period. They have been and will continue to be. The Rockets are committed to both of them. And, even if you WANTED to trade Francis, he is a base year compensation player which makes getting a deal to work VERY difficult.

Now, really everyone else on the roster is up for grabs if the right deal comes along. We'll have to see. I do think Mobley, Griffin and Cato are all players who could individually or collectively bring talent back in return. Unfortunately, most teams are looking for players whose contracts expire at the end of this season. Everyone wants to make a run at Duncan, Kidd, et al.

I think it doesn't matter once the Rockets start winning. Fans will come regardless if Ming isn't there, as long as the Rockets are winning.

Besides, the Rockets' ticket sales may have gone up 50% but its not that significant.

Only Yao Ming is untouchable! Francis is second but should be available if the right deal is offered.Only under this thinking can the Rockets ever keep the Franchise under control.

why this roster looks like clipper's roster right now, except they have Kandi in the middle, presumbely better than Cato. Oh, you mean a poorer version of today's Clipper, nice try. Yeah, trade Ming to LA, I ccan watch him more and save me some money on the ass league pass. I like this trade.

You must be kidding! Yao is the biggest story to hit basketball since I don't know when. There hasn't been a SPORTS story this compelling since Tiger Woods.

This guy has already been in Time, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Sports Illustrated (twice on the cover), People, Newsweek, the Wall Street Journal and ESPN the Magazine. He's been asked to be on David Letterman, Jay Leno, 60 Minutes and every network morning show. He has endorsements with Nike, Gatorade, Visa and Apple Computer.

And he hasn't even been in America for A YEAR!!!

This isn't just about fans or even sports. As a high-profile Asian athlete, he is impacting everything. I have never been one to buy into the hype of Yao as a player. He is still learning and has a ways to go to be one of the best all time (though I think he CAN get there). But, there is no questioning the guy's marketability. If he continues to improve as a player, he will be bigger than Jordan and Woods put together. You cannot put a value on that if you are the Rockets or the city of Houston.

This guy is rapidly putting the Rockets on the map and the American map, the WORLD map. You would have to be a freakin' moron to trade him.

Francis is untouchable. That is just a fact. The Rockets have put he and Yao on that list and neither is coming off. May as well get used to it.

I agree with Jeff about Francis & Yao being untouchable. The only thing that can be said for sure about the rest of the Rockets is the MoT won't be sent back to the Clippers. Talk about killing free agency trust!!!

Jeff, you said what I want to say, thanks.
Ming for Brand+Miller, it is just insane, Clip got Brand for Tyson Chandler for crying out loud. So it's essentially Tyson.Chandler+AMiller for Ming. Hehehe.

Sorry, but a trade that gives up Yao for Brand?

The day the Rox pull the trigger on a deal like that is the last day I consider them my team, and I've been a fan since the days of Moses. Still, I'd have to walk away from any team THAT stupid.

    Seriously. I'm speechless.

Sterling and Baylor really like Odom, so I think he's one player that they wouldn't give up for less than market value.

Jeff said it. Yao and Francis are untouchable. Everyone else can be had for the right deal.

Steve Francis is an All Star every year, unless the NCAA produces a PG with Francis' skills, marketability, and hops. Yao Ming is Yao Ming. I'd say he's top 5 in the league as far as marketing goes, so that's enoughr eason to keep him. Also, he's the 2nd best C in the league, and will be the best of the current generation in a couple of years.

Why would anyone trade these 2?

Even I am ready to get the trading deadline over.

Don't want Miller. Surly. Selfish. Fake. Bad Shooter. Exposed. Heck, I'd even prefer the "reformed" J-Dub to Miller.

    Don't want Kandi.

    Do want Brand.

    Do want Odom.

    Would take Q or Maggette.

Our package is prolly Cat + Griff. Will add any other than SF/Yao.

We'll see what they say soon enough.

My sentiments exactly. I've read the many Elton Brand/Andre Miller trade ideas over past few days but the idea that anyone could coherently remark Yao Ming could be used as trade bait and be involved is ridiculous. I've read Sterling really likes Odom and considering he would like to resign Brand he isn't going to ship both these guys out. Even if Yao Ming were involved he's high on these two especially Odom. They wouldn't take Rice. His contract is ridiculous and he is damaged goods. I doubt the Clippers would do this but I personally like it.

Houston trades: PF Jason Collier (2.8 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.1 apg in 8.4 minutes)
SG Cuttino Mobley (18.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in 41.6 minutes)
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Elton Brand (18.0 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 2.5 apg in 40.1 minutes)
SG Marko Jaric (7.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.0 apg in 23.0 minutes)
PG Andre Miller (14.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 7.0 apg in 37.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +10.2 ppg, +5.4 rpg, and +8.3 apg.

L.A. Clippers trades: PF Elton Brand (18.0 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 2.5 apg in 40.1 minutes)
SG Marko Jaric (7.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.0 apg in 23.0 minutes)
PG Andre Miller (14.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 7.0 apg in 37.8 minutes)
L.A. Clippers receives: PF Jason Collier (2.8 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 0.1 apg in 12 games)
SG Cuttino Mobley (18.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in 40 games)
PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.1 apg in 44 games)
Change in team outlook: -10.2 ppg, -5.4 rpg, and -8.3 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and L.A. Clippers being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and L.A. Clippers had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
