You make money by winning and having superstars. Having an Asian player is not going to help you in the long run if he is not a star. Looking at players in terms of financial benefit is a losing financial strategy.
I would still argue that Lin is the more efficient point guard of the two right now. But clearly, the bottom line of basketball is that you must put the ball in the bucket. And right now Lin is struggling to do that. If you can't shoot staight and if can't get to the line then he will need to sit. That said, he is making an adjustment, and I'm willing to give him a good year to evolve on that front.
Actually, he's not. The best screeners are those that can get away with murder when they set a moving screen. They also need to be a lethal threat rolling to the basket and finish strong so the big won't try to hedge/trap as much. Not that it will help Lin since they will just go under the screen and dare him to shoot.
Jeremy Lin really needs to dump his jersery # 7 and switch back to #17, every team where he wore #7, he got waived or played poorely. I honestly think #17 is his lucky number!!! Common Jeremy!
You're hindering the possibility that he could be a star. He already has a huge following and the media and the diehard Lin advocates can easily help sway the market into believing he could be a star. I'm only bringing this up as I want to understand what's the strategy from a business standpoint. I realize the Rockets are a small company in the sense of being a regional multi-mil company as-is most NBA teams are. I don't think the coaches and players look at the business from an operational standpoint, i.e. ROI. But coming from the hi tech industry the international multi-bil companies would ask the question - what is your business strategy by benching Lin. On a weekend game where many of the fans in Asia can view the game then bench him when he's having an ok game while having the lead. If you're looking to build a known brand you need to figure out how to best use your marketing assets. You look to ride the train that has the biggest upside and take these chances as a marketing advantage. Taking Lin out seemed to be a costly move if it's not clearly warranted. Is the organization even large enough to think strategically on these conditions? These type of decisions should be reviewed by the organization because it has a financial impact.
rockets shouldsa benched harden the same way they benched lin. that way, he. probably wouldn't have twisted his ankle.

I sure stop watching after the 1st Half. I hated the fact that they don't use Lin correctly in the offense. There is no one on this team that can run pick n roll effectively. That didn't help. So basically Lin is reduced to just passing the ball around and being a facilitator. His role is being reduced to just another player....not any more special than a garbage bench player. Anybody can do what he does...bring the ball up, and pass it around. They don't run play and say you go and do some pick n roll and attack the basket. I don't EVER seen him do that anymore and blame it on the coaches. Why is Harden allow to do pick and roll and attack and not LIN? i think Lin is capable of attacking but is not giving the opportunity. Therefore, they're not utilizing his strength. If you're not doing that, you're just wasting. They're using Lin as if Carmelo just came back from the lineup which is pass the ball around and watch. But Linsanity start when Carmelo sit...he was giving the green light to do pick n roll and attack. I rather see him attack and take risk and turnover like Harden did than to play reserve and be a facilitator.
You're not Chinese or Taiwanese, so the way of your thinking is fraud. Lin and Yao are totally different. Yao came from China, Lin has nothing to do with China other than his skin color. The impact of Yao on Chinese market is lightyears ahead of Lin. To understand this, you need to watch the Year of Yao. Another useless thread.
Its really simple. Although Lin is playing solid b-ball, defense, assists, steals, rebounds hes not scoring. Now in the last 5 games his shooting percentage is up hes not consistantly taking more shots. Lin took 2 shots in his first 6 minutes last night....Lin needs to take 15 shots a game. If he did that he would be averaging 16 points game min. That would make him an above average PG, Until Lin becomes a more selfish player hes going to strug;e getting time. The problem with the rockets has NOTHING to do with Jeremy Lin. Its all about no one other than Lin and Osik play defense
The bottom line is this is a gimmick franchise. Les signed Lin for the Chinese $$$ They had a chance to sign a much better PG in Dragic and were petty in the negotiations. Our ownership doesn't care about winning. I hope this "poison pill" contract sabotages the team. What a joke
