I am not a LOF by any means, but your first post clearly had some agenda, especially with the way you worded it, it implied Lin was getting torched by Mayo. I know LOF's are annoying but don't let it destroy your objectivity.
Patterson is the big elephant in the room when it comes to the stalling offense. He set only one decent screen in the past 10 games that I can remember. (It was in this last game against Dallas. It resulted in J. Lin going to the FT line.)
The coaches made the decision to go with Douglas because of his defense on OJ. That's a fact. Im not making that up or giving my opinion on what they SHOULD HAVE done. That's just a fact that Im stating. Maybe stating that "Lin was getting torched" wasn't the proper verbiage to use. The coaches obviously thought he was the lesser defensive option, and not good enough offensively to sit Harden when Harden was about the only consistent offensive player the Rockets had tonight. What's apparent to me is that either Lin is having trouble fitting in this lineup, or the coaches are having trouble fitting Lin in. You make up your own mind. Don't point fingers at me for stating the facts. Again, Im not saying thats what I would do, but its just obvious that this is what the coaches are seeing. This thread is specifically related to the game that still has an active game thread. If there is a specific trending issue with the Rockets over a few games a fan wants to address to create constuctive dialog then so be it. If a LOF just wants to b**** about how the (non-LOF) fans, coaches, other players, and especially Harden, there are numerous other threads taking that fight to the internet. If its JUST about this game, it should be kept in the game thread. Im not the thread making police or anything, but this crap is pretty annoying.
"agenda" What, to bash Lin??... Its not. Bad verbiage on my part I admit, but the point is the coaches went with the player they went with for extended minutes for defensive purposes.
riiight....DaneB = LOF what's actually annoying is you posting out of your ass repetitively and then trying to pass off your 11th grade opinions as 'facts'.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fUzJzOd09MI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Ref thought Pat blocked it out of bounds?
The problem with that take it that Lin was actually having a decent game. 2-4 from the field but 3 of the shots were 3 pointers and he made 2 of them. Combined with 2 STLs, 3 AST and 2 REBs, he was only 3 points below Delfino on 7 less shots in almost half the amount of court time. I'm not even a so called LOF but their is little doubt the decision to bench Lin and Asik, while it may have been for defensive purposes was still a failure as it didn't stop Mayo from scoring 40, nor Kamen hitting 20, along with Carter and Collison from getting a dozen each.
Lin played 6min in 1Q during which Mayo scored 5 pts. Douglas played also 6min in 1Q during which May scored 11 pts. Mayo scored 31 pts when Douglas was on the floor and Lin on the bench. Lin getting torched?!?!
Asik just had another off night... As for the reason of taking out Lin, it might not be about him playing bad or not. I think it's actually because he just wasn't a good fit for Harden. Harden scored most of his points when Lin was on the bench and TD played the SG position. When Lin was on the floor, Harden was simply not that productive because Lin was distributing the ball and he liked to feed the bigs or anyone that was open on the 3pt line. (Unfortunately, Asik could't finish...) Then Harden just became another 3pt shooter. But you know the Rockets definitely wanted to go through Harden and make him more effective. That only left Lin on the bench... Also, looking at the lineup in the final minutes: Harden, TD, Parsons, Delfino, PPT. ALL OF THEM CAN SHOOT THREES! I think that's a big reason why McHale went with that lineup. They were just putting bet on 3s. But that was a really horrible lineup on defensive end. DAL outscored the Rockets 27-11 in the final 7:31. Defense is the real problem. Lin can't shoot 3s consistently and Asik can't finish under the rim consistently... Both of them were benched... Is it just me or the coaches value the players' offensive ability more than their defensive ability? If so..no wonder their defense were so bad lately. Team will not be able to go far without defense. It doesn't matter how many points you score. The opponents will just outscore you. And it's not that we're really an elite offensive team. We just live or die by 3s...
Read post 1803 of the game thread (page 90 or 91). Douglas in game Mayo scored 32, Lin in game Mayo score 5, both in Mayo scored 2. I have no idea how you came up with Douglas was the only answer and Lin was torched. People want to remember what they want to, I guess
TD put in the game for defensive purposes = 11th grade opinions... Ok. I'm just going to let you pop off all you want. I shouldn't have to back that one up. I can't be the only one frustrated that every two seconds there a conspiracy thread popping up about how there is an agenda for the team to ruin Lin's career, and destroy the hearts of his fanbase. So I guess the response back from that is to call me a rooky, with an 11th grade opinion, but if that's the road you would like to take, go for it.
I really blame this loss on the coaching but just like I think you have to give an injured payer time to get back into it, I think the same has to be said for Mchale. I'm sure tonight was very hard for him and I think he will do better as time goes on.
Another selective memory bias. Rockets took multiple times more 3s with Lin not playing than with Lin playing.
Well, to be honest, when Douglas was in, Mayo did score 32 vs Lin in 5, and both in 2. But your opinion WAS that Douglas was the only one able to contain him and Lin was lit up. There may not be any agenda, but it was a pretty poor recall of what happened.
TD was not put in for his defense. Mayo just had a career night with 40pts. If anything, it was TD who was torched by Mayo. TD was on the court because his corner 3s.
1) unless you are on the coaching staff, you have no business speaking on their behalf with your 'facts'. 2) WTF does this thread have to do with "a conspiracy thread popping up about how there is an agenda for the team to ruin Lin's career" 3) your posts in this thread have been, for the most part, disconnected from what actually took place in tonights game and disconnected from the thread topic itself. stop posting like a raging douchebag 11th grader.
The "Lin was getting lit up" comment i have said a few times was poor verbiage. I recall that I was happy to see Lin hit the 3 much better tonight, and he grabbed some good rebounds too. The only thing I was trying to get at was that the coaches obviously thought Douglas was giving them an edge defensively. If it matters much(hint- it doesn't), IF I was the coach tonight, I probably would have tried to stagger Harden & Lin's minutes more to give Harden a rest to have enough juice to close the game, and see if they can run some of their offense through Lin when Harden is off the floor. Either way, its going to take some time these two guys to figure out how to play together effectively, and for the coaches to figure out how to use them effectively together. Melo and Amare still have yet to figure it out in NY. Let's all hope Lin/Harden & the coaches get it figured out sooner than them.
