OJ Mayo is not going to get 26 shots with Dirk on the floor.

I said Mayo is damn good, but Harden is better. I stand by that.

Meanwhile you geniuses feel like Mayo is some role playing loser who doesn't deserve any praise.

While Harden is more complete, Mayo just has more "killer" in him.

Same could be said for Harden if he had Dirk... He's not the complete athlete or player of Harden, but the dude can flat-out score... He will complament Dirk VERY nicely...

What's with all this Mayo hype? He is what he is, a bonafide scorer.

We've got ourselves a Grant Hill-type. The Mavs got themselves a solid second scoring option, albeit on the cheap, in the same vein as a Jamal Crawford or Jason Terry.

Where's the argument here? Harden is the type of player that can lead a team to contention, while Mayo's the kind of guy that can put points on the board while the true star recovers. Harden IS the guy. Mayo's just filling in for the guy.

Mayo is good but not as good as Harden. Harden was too tired down the stretch and made some bad plays down the stretch as well. Harden had to play too much tonight because he was the main reason the Rox got back in the game. I was afraid he was going to be too tired by the end of the game.

Mayo got the chance to rest. Meanwhile Harden was forced to play 45 minutes on the end of a back2back.

They gotta get this guy some more rest, he's proven on bigger stages than Mayo has that he's more than clutch...but he's also human. Rest him.

Whomever compared harden to grant hill is just dumb. The reality is mayo and harden are equal in terms of talent. Other than drawing fouls, what skil does harden have over oj? He doesn't. Neither guys are tier 1 players, but even with a makeshift team, mayo has played better than harden. That's not to say it wasn't a good trade for rockets. Its just the truth the mavs gamble on mayo and its paying off.

Knowing what Harden can do, Mayo could be an allstar reserve in his own right

Harden's a better passer, and you can't brush off getting to the line, it's big when you're looking at efficiency. Harden scored 39 on 17 shots, while Mayo scored 1 more point it took him 9 more FGA's.

Come on now, Mayo has upped his production from 13 to 20ppg.
    That's pretty huge.

He took nine less shots, but he scored the most important points. Don't act like mayo can't or don't pass and don't act like he's not carrying this team and he's still shooting 51% from the field. What is harden shooting? What is his asst/to ratio for all this playmaking. I know age is coming up next,oj is what 25? Call it what it is.

its simply too close to call as we saw tonight

the fact that OJ took the challenge on guarding Harden in the closing minute in the 4th.

Whereas Harden didn't take the challenge of guarding OJ.

Neither of them are great defenders, but Harden has to take the challenge of trying to guard the best perimeter player in the closing minutes.

    tells me

Mayo>Harden at the moment but again subject to change. Its close

I just can't handle the stupidity anymore.

We're now giving a player an edge based on a one minute sample size.

Yes Mavs played last night as well but Mayo got more rest this game than Harden. Harden played too much tonight, he was tired out there and because of it Mayo finished stronger. Mayo just has to score for the Mavs. Harden has to score and play make for Rox most of the time especially in this game when the Rox came out again with a pathetic start. Harden is having to do too damn much.

it comes down to which coach will utilize their best player and how the coach will utilize them

and McHale is fail at doing that.

Rick knew it was a winnable game so he rested Mayo for the crucial minutes. He placed his trust into Carter and Carter came through and did not disappoint.

Played your best players the WHOLE half and didn't really find a way to rest for the crucial minutes. Didn't even help that no one else stepped up.

I didn't say he couldn't pass, I said Harden was a better passer.

Just because a guy plays for the rox and the other doesn't. Don't mean we have to lie to ourselves. Based on value, mayo has been a much better value than harden. Especially for. What the rockets gave up vs what the mavs gave up. I'm just laughing at how some want to blow this off when they're basically the same player. Oj played well in memphis off the bench and he had some of the same questions as a possible starter. One thing oj has been is a starter in this league before. Its a good topic to follow since people on this board is high on value. So far,oj has been whipping the **** out of harden in terms of bang for buck.
