How did Delfino not have an offer better than 1yr/$3mil+team option?

You answered your question in your post.

Delfino is sort of a generic SG/SF that takes 3 point shots 45% of the time at minimum most games. He isn't crap on the defensive end but you can't expect him to shut down legit offensive threats especially at his age.

Lee is a young, above average SG that can defend against bigger PGs, average SGs and smaller SFs. Combined with decent offensive ability (maybe not a consistent 3 point shot) he makes for a more attractive bench option.

Delfino has been showing his shooting touch since returning from injury but he is an average role player, not really that big of a steal.

I knew you didn't mean the stars were not worth their value. I guess what you meant to say was, everybody got robbed, the stars in the old CBA and now the middle class's turn in the new CBA.

My point was, the structure of distribution was more fair now in terms of values to the team.

Delfino has most of the intangibles you look for in a bench player excluding high shooting percentage. He plays decent defense, he never stops moving,he earns rebounds and steals via hustle plays, he is not afraid of anyone, he passes very well and finds the opportunity man at the right time. These kinds of players stick around, make runs and comebacks possible and also become fan favorites. I think we're lucky to have him at such a bargain price, and he seems to really be enjoying himself, which can only add to a great locker room

The season is still young. I do hope he keeps up. If he does, he's a great pick up.

Among the guys in the regular rotation, he's 3rd in FGA per 36 min. at 13.4, behind Harden and Patterson. Parsons, in comparison, takes 11.7 FGA per 36 min.

This number in itself might not be a problem. The problem is his shot selection. From the eye test, I find him shooting lots of contested, off balance shots with a lot of time remaining on the shot clock.

Statistically, he is shooting .375 (.339 3pt). His eFG% is .494, not exactly stellar.

Delfino's shooting in the 10 games he played so far:
    5-6
    2-8
    1-7
    6-14
    3-9
    2-7
    3-10
    0-5
    5-7
    6-15

The reds are hot shooting. The blues are cold shooting. That's pretty streaky in my book.

    Patterson .508 FG% (.364 3pt%), .539 eFG%

    4-11
    6-16

    8-13
    4-10
    1-5
    8-14
    3-4

    7-14
    7-13
    8-14

    8-16
    5-7
    7-14
    11-18
    8-17
    2-5

Patterson had a few bad shooting games at the beginning. He's been quite consistent for the last 12 games.

(My definition of "cold" is below .400 and "hot" is above .500.)

Lee is one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA and can shoot the ball as well as Delfino. If you think that is a huge drop off then you are right to have these thoughts. I think that Lee was worth his contract and we just so happen to get (yet another) steal-type contract.

Yeah, Delfino is definitely a streak shooter, from what I can see. Sort of our Argentine Vernon Maxwell. If he's hot, you need to ride him hard. If he's not, let him watch the game from the bench, unless he's adding value on the court in other ways, which he can do to a degree.

Lets keep two of our project Power forwards and bring Scola back when his contract is up. Setting the stage for the Argentina Connection!

Delfino has bad shot selection, but he forces defenses to guard him because he is really good at uncontested shots.

Delfino was exactly what we needed against LA. The other players were scared and Del just came in and inspired the team with swagger.

He's got swagger on the court no doubt. When his shot is falling he is fun to watch. His release is pure and even when he misses the ball is almost in. He never bricks the ball.

Pretty much any shooter who (1) plays somewhat limited minutes and (2) primarily takes jump shots are going to be "streaky." Even if shooting was completely random (instead of being affected by overall team offense/defense) like coin flips, you are gonna have some "hot" and "cold" spells as a matter of chance and these look more pronounced/prolonged when you take, say, 6 or 8 shots a game than if you get 20 shots a game.

A random pattern typically looks like this:

    make 2, miss 1, make 2, miss 3, make 1, miss 3, make 4, miss 2, make 1, miss 3...
Taking 6 to 8 shots a game would look like:
    4-6, 3-8, 3-7, etc.

If you have a tendency of:
    make 4, miss 6, make 2, miss 5, make 5, miss 6. That's streaky.
    You'd have games like:
    4-6, 2-8, 5-8, 1-7, 5-6, 0-7, etc.
