Jake's Philly Steaks and Rockets Games

Couple of things. the Jake's on 1960 closed years ago, we never had anything to do with that place and we have no kowledge of what happened there, the 2944 Chimney Rock is our only location as of now. Secondly, we're going to try staying open later to feed you'all (2 A.M. instead of around 11-12). We had a number of fans come by after the game last night that wanted to eat, so we tried to accommadate them and we'll see how the late shift pans out. Also, a few weeks back somebody commented about our Queso.....well they were right because last night the Queso sucked. Somehow, somebody quit making it the way is is suppossed to be and a few of my friends asked why it changed and why it had less peppers and why it was thick as a brick. So we'll get that fixed immediately and we apologize if anybody got anything last night they did not like, especially the chile con queso. And finally, for those that like our Hamburger buns, we now have them in Jalepeno Cheese and we will start making any combination of hot or cold sandwich on either Italian Ceeesesteak bread or White or Jalepeno Cheese buns. Please keep us informed of how we can continue to do things to make it better for you'll. Thank, Jake's Management.

You are correct, the 2944 is our only location. I believe Jake's tried something like a franchise concept years ago on 1960 and it was not successful, but we we're not invloved in that spot. Thanks, Jake's Management.

No, he's saying your post makes you look like a ****ing jerk, jerk.

Go reread the Mama's paragraph and tell us how that DOESN'T make you look like a douche. It isn't the message, it's how you deliver it

Nah, I'm saying that if you actually wanted to poke them with a critic stick you should have said it to thier face. Me and Pugs go there all the time and Hank and his buddies have been nothing short of amazing to us. Even when it's only 4 Rockets fans watching a game they'll keep happy hour going.

We've made reconditions and they acomidated them on the spot.

We thank you clutch fans for answering that one, we kind of left it alone. Jake's use to only run basically from lunch until 8 P.M. until we started going there, playing golden tee and drinking and keeping it open until 11. Then we bought the restaurant, the name, the strip center and the real estate so we could have a liquor license (previous owner wouldn't allow it). We open early every other Friday at 7 A.M. because we have a customer that wants breakfast tacos (so we're going to expand that offering). We have a number of customers that want late food, darts, games, drinks, etc. and since we have to have food available with our serving alcohol, we're going to expand and test those hours of operation. With the high fixed cost of doing business and the increasing variable costs of food and misc. we're going to try different things to keep the doors open and provide capital for renovations and future expansion. Thanks, Jake's Management.

The only reason you would ever want to help someone out is for rep?

Man you're ****ing greedy, Clutch should take all your rep away.

That's pretty funny....I have to show this post to the wiff. We were running low on Cheese Whiz the other day and our delivery comes Tuesday, so she had to go out and buy 4 gallons of it and it is hard to find in gallon cans and she was not happy a happy camper. Thanks, Jake's Management.

We've got San Antonio Friday at 7:30 and Dallas Saturday at 7. For all of you clutch fans and patrons that may visit Jake's for either or both of those games, think of something fun to drink or eat or something special we can prepare for you'all or that you may like and we'll do our best to provide it. We had the free beer glasses last night and I've seen some places doing the 50 cent wing thing, maybe something like that? Let us know. Thanks, Jake's Management.

I guess I will try this one in a more civil manner.

TO Jakes Management (and I really hope you actually answer this one)

With your every other Friday breakfast openings, have you seen enough demand to shift you in to at bare minimum covering your costs?

I may have come off like a jerkoff, but only because I dont want to see you make a really poor decision. My parents own a restaurant in Atlanta for 14 years, sold it, the new owner expanded everything way too fast and it ended up floundering. This is YOUR livelyhood on the line, dont squander it doing too much too fast.

Expanding your hours would be a few steps later in my book. If I were in a similar situation as the ownership I would do this first:

    1. Repair Jakes image. You claim to have improved the food, brought in some restaurant people from Mamas, replaced many of the crappy TVs that were in there and added liquor. However, people have a hard time shaking old memories and you (according to all review sites) are sitting close to a 50% approval rating. I would A) encourage new or returning clients to post favorable reviews in exchange for a discount on a meal. B) Get your website up and running ASAP with pictures of your new food and interior. C) Put thsoe same pictures up on Yelp/CitySearch/UrbanSpoon/B4UEat. Let people know that jakes of 6 months ago is gone...until they know they wont come.

    2. Quality Control. You mentioned earlier that your queso dip/dressing yesterday was sub standard to your own quality demands. This cannot happen, ever. Every new customer you get is giving you a chance and I know you know this. Dont give them a reason to come back to see if you got better, only give them a reason to come back because youre great. You can ease off the quality a bit once your doors are busted down daily...until that day comes you must give everyone better than they pay for.

    3. Determine your NEEDED GROSS PROFIT per customer...including Rockets fans. Once you find out how much you NEED your clients to spend, you can adjust your prices accordingly to ensure you reach your weekly goal. If you have expansion in mind, tack that number on to your NGP, readjust, and make it work.

    4. Be practical with your expansions. Just because 1 customer wants breakfast tacos doesnt mean enough customers demand it. If you make 100, but spend 130 to make it, youre at a loss. Its good to cater to customers but it is awful to cater to them if it means you lose. If you want to expand your hours you must know when to quit it. Theres no reason to add 3 hours to your close time if you only have 2 customers who arent spending any money in there. Every hour you add to your business increases your needed gross profit, and in turn hurts your chances at success.

I want you to do well, I hate seeing people lose their businesses. Good luck, and thanks for caring about the CF.Net community. I refuse to partake in any specials you offer, as I can expect youre close to taking a loss on every person you give them to, I pay my taxes and I will pay your costs.

    Good luck. and God speed.
