Whut? That's what a beer is supposed to do. No need to feel guilty. A beer or two wont kill you, but there are other ways to channel off that stress instead of booze. Stay positive, man.
Have you ever thought you needed a drink first thing in the morning to relax/ get rid of nerves/ to get rid of a hangover?
I've got you under my skin I've got you deep in the heart of me So deep in my heart, that you're really a part of me I've got you under my skin I've tried so hard not to give in I've said to myself this affair will never go so well But why should I try to resist, when baby will I know so well That I've got you under my skin I'd sacrifice anything come what might For the sake of having you near In spite of a warning voice that comes in the night And repeats, repeats in my ear Don't you know little fool, you never can win Use your mentality, wake up to reality But each time I do, just the thought of you Makes me stop before I begin 'Cause I've got you under my skin
I prefer to drink beer with friends that appreciate a high quality brew, but I will still drink a couple by myself because it sounds good. I never drink heavy liquor alone. To the OP, want to know if you have a problem? Go a week without drinking and see how hard it is. I drink 4-5 times a week, but whenever I get concerned I go a week and see how hard it is.
Ok so what's the big deal about drinking by yourself? Who cares. Alcohol is yummy and the effects are awesome. Whether with company or alone, doesn't change those two facts.
I agree drinking alone doesn't make you an alcoholic. Sneaking drinks while in the company of others might.
I don't know if you're an alcoholic or not. I would try and not drink for the purpose of making things better if something's wrong. Try it for just 2 weeks. If you feel extra edgy you might have developed a psychological dependence. If you can't function normally physically then you're an alcoholic. When you start drinking again, don't try and drink to escape anything. Relaxing with a drink isn't a bad thing if you aren't an alcoholic. Best of luck.

i disagree, and theres scientific evidence from researchers that indicate that addiction is a form of disease
You aren't an alcoholic. I could have written a long boring post about why you aren't, but I cant be bothered. You just arent.
Christopher Hitchens essay on why he wasn't an alcoholic (he allegedly was by other contradictory accounts) explains why you're not, excerpted here and more or less sets the perfect rules for drinking " http://www.slate.com/articles/news_...hort_footnote_on_the_grape_and_the_grain.html
