Yao is the major problem. Trade Yao. then there is no SF haters and mob haters. Itz the best for Yao and also itz the best for Rockets I believe other teams will use "YAO" better than Rockets
Maybe he is right. Before the beginning of this season, everyone on this board said that the performance of Ming would be just a bonus to Rockets. Even without him the rockets can make the playoff due to the health of other players. But now Ming plays 30+ minutes and rockets is losing out of the playoff position. Maybe if Ming was not here Rockets could have done better.
Yao should be traded to Golden State. The Bay Area has a huge Asian population. Every Golden State home game would sell out. It's best for the NBA and it's best for the Warriors.
Trust me, we would not be doing better without Yao, we would likely have a losing record. Kelvin Cato might have continued his lethargic play with Collier being the backup center the entire season. And most likely Cato would have been injured, giving Collier starts.
No, it only showed how overrated our team (Francis, Mobley and co) was and how underrated Yao was pre-season.
Umm...are you even a Rocket's fan, or are you just trying to be funny? Noone here gives a **** about what's best for the Warriors. As for trading Yao, let's just say there are some people here who are bigger Yao fans than Rockets fans.
Would you really? I remember this debate before the season even started. I wouldn't even trade Yao for Shaq then, and I certainly wouldn't now. Not because I think Yao is better, but because he's 10 years younger!
We're still in the playoffs, despite going through our roughest part of the season. Yao has 5 days off. MoT looked great in Cleveland. Rice is coming back. It's going to look better, trust me.
Actually, Yao is playing this weekend in Atlanta. He is flying to Orlando today to shoot another commerciial.
Trade Yao? No way! I'm afraid Yao would want to get out of here himself if we continue to use him as we are now. Remember his obligation with us is only three freaking years, we can't take things for granted. How many times have you heard the announcers on the other team ripping our team for not utilizing him? The excuses have always been he was tired or he couldn't get good position. But last night he was on fire in the second half and he ignited the final push in the last minutes. He gave big Z 3 fouls on 3 possesions and made something happen almost every time he touched the ball. So you are telling me he was tired??? Had we not completely ignored him the first half it definitely would've been a different ball game. If I were him I'd be really really pissed, who would not be?
I'm disappointed, windandsea. Did it ever occur to you that a large factor in the Rockets up and down performances could just possibly be trying to change the offense to utilize a player NO ONE thought would be able to contribute at the level Yao has during HIS up and down season? You can't create chemistry between players, develop an offense taking advantage of a player not expected to make a major contribution this season (certainly not as a starter, after playing 2+ years for the Sharks and the Chinese National Team), and do it with one of the youngest teams in the League without a LOT of bumps in the road. I've been frustrated with the play of some of our players, I've been frustrated with the time it's taken for some of our players coming back from serious injuries from last season to get back into form (and Rice has been injured again), I've been frustrated with some of our coaching decisions... hell, there's a lot to be frustrated about. But this happens EVERY SEASON in the NBA. Every team has injuries, every team has young players that don't produce like we might wish in our imaginations, every team has players who have an off-season or a bad stretch of play, every team has decisions of the coaching staff second-guessed by their fans. THAT'S JUST HOW IT IS. We have issues with this team that will be addressed during the off-season or by the trading deadline. But, for the record, I still think we will squeeze into the playoffs. And, for the record, I wish some of you would not get so fixated on Yao. It's not good for Yao, it's not being a "fan of the team"... it's being a "fan of a player", and he's a ROOKIE. Thank you. P.S.- I still think your totally groovy!
i'm sorry windandsea, did you just say the rockets are better off without yao that they would make the playoff this year. wow! that's just the stupid statement. do you want to be the phoenix suns??? without yao, the rockets are the phoenix suns of past and present with good guards' play and no interior presence. nobody to score in the paint and slow down the shaq, the duncan, the cwebb and other big men. the chance of winning the championship is further than a dream. if the rockets were stupid enough to trade yao and i were the golden states GM, i would give up my whole team for him. they can have jamison and his $87 million contract, eric dampier, dunleavy jr., slam-dunk-king-but-can't-make-an-open-shoot richardson, gilbert arenas, troy murphy, etc... for all yao haters, don't claim to be the rockets fans when they start winning with yao as the focal point of the team.
I am a fan of rockets. So please don't label me "Yao-only-fan". I just have a question in my mind these days: Could rockets have done better if Ming was not here? From the record that we have gotten now, Ming is not making this team better than it was two years ago (standing-wise at least). That is the reason I have that question. Because we have a healthy Steve, improved Cato and Morris, Possy and a recovering Taylor. I always ask me this question: what kind of position the rockets could be on the standing now if we take Ming out of the roster? I am not saying we have to trade Ming. I just wonder why we cannot get a better record when Ming is so good.
windandsea, you asked a good question. Puzzling isn't it? Actually the answer seems obvious to me. With Ming in the line up we ARE a better team than two years ago. The reason we've not got better record wise is because we've been inconsistent. We were able to beat real good teams and yet only to lose to very bad teams. Also, when we are on we are really good, good to the point that we can actually scare a lot of the good teams. This is something we did not have back two years. Also, the west has got better and better. 3 of our losses were to the lowly Dallas who was nobody before. You can go on and on. Bottom line is, Ming is not our problem. Our lack of team play skills IS.
