In order for the pumpfake to work, you have to establish your outside shot. If I were the defender, I'd give Eddie all the 3's he wants to take.

So, if we run it down their throat first, then that gives Eddie the mental advantage to complete his long bombs?

Is that it? I'm not sure. I never seem to get these football analogies like everyone else does down here in Texas. It's like you guys can use football to even explain the complexities of male/female relationships.

    like this:

"<i>if you can establish yourself on the inside, that gives you such a mental advantage, just like being able to ram it down their throat like the Cornhuskers used to do."</i>

When you are shooting 32.1% from the 3-piont land, chances are that your rarely have a good day from that range - So quit doing it.

Hmmm, let's take Kenny Thomas as an example:

1999/2000: 122 three point attempts, 39.9% overall shooting
2000/2001: 92 three point attempts, 44.3% overall shooting
2001/2002: 16 three point attempts, 47.7% overall shooting

    coincidence?

    Fegwu,

I agree but before others jump and say that Posey and others are worse than 32% and still shoot 3s, let me add a few additional issues.

Eddie is OUR PF. Other than Rasheed Wallace to my knowledge, no other PF shoots more than 2 threes a game and there is a reason for this. PF's needs to play inside and this is especially true since we have a rookie center and outside shooting guards.

Sorry to butt in but I know others are gonna bring this up.

Interesting stat. Being selective with your shots is one way to improve your production.

32.1% 3 point shooting translates to 48% 2 point shooting which I consider it acceptable. He did have some good days though.

Just curious, how does the conversion from 2-pointer to 3-pointer work? Thanks in advance.

Its not the % that bothers me but the fact that he is our PF. If he wants to shoot 3s, we should play him as a back-up SF. But we need someone to play big in the paint aside Yao. Having Ming and 4 gunners wont win many games.

    It's all about percentages, hikanoo49.

If we have Yao and 4 gunners who hits 50% of their shots, we will win many games. :D

You make 100 three pointers for 300 hundread points.
You need to make 150 two pointers to get 300 points.
So 1 three pointer translates to 1.5 two pointer, 32% 3 pointers translates to 48% 2 pointers for the same amount shoots taken.

If Eddy can make 40% 3 pointers I don't have a problem with him sitting beyond arc all day long. He is too weak to bang inside and doesn't have enough post move to create high percentage inside shots anyway. That being said, I do agree with you that right now EG takes way too many 3 pointers since he is not that good a 3 point shooter and should step in a little bit, especially on nights his 3 pointers aren't falling.

If Eddie is too weak inside to bang as you say, then I really hope management does something soon to get us someone who can bang. Afterall, that is what a PF is suppose to do in my humble opinion.

The key here is potential. Management still hopes he can develop into the kind of PF you want to see. Afterall he is only 21 year old. Normally it takes at least 3 years to develop a big man, so he still deserve some time and we have to be patient.

He'll never learn the tricks of the trade on the inside if he shoots from outside so much. He may not have the strength, but he also has terrible footwork. The hope is he can be a consistent player after a shaky start like Donyell Marshall.
