how soon will we commit to our new offense?

I am no longer a frustrated rox fan. As it says in my tag, I believe. I think we have a wonderful team, and even though there are times that I question rudy in game, I usually find that he does many more things that I am astounded by their cleverness.

I now feel that the only thing stopping us from making the turn is utter commitment to the passing game. I can even understand why steve and cuttino have a hard time doing this sometimes.

For their whole tenure (save one year for cat) as a rocket, they have never had a true inside presence. Therefore they have always had to rely on themselves for crunchtime and gutcheck buckets.

With Yao becoming an inside presence, I feel that steve and cat truly do love the change in the game. However, at points when it becomes hard to drop the ball down something clicks and they revert.

During the Minnesota game this became crystal clear to me. During the first quarter, they did try to start a post game with Yao and even Eddie. Give the wolves credit, they played some fantastic d and the post. Unfortunately, this left us down and put steve and cuttino back to playing by instinct. "With no post play this game is ours"

My premise is this: when the rox get into the mind frame that they will even lose a game, but still pound it down low, they will be real contenders.

My question is, how long do you feel this will take?

I feel that probably by the end of the season we will be there. But, honestly, it may take until next year.

    my two cents

As I said before, it looks like we are an organization and fans will have to go through alot of heartaches until our players figure this out.

I still question the reasons to why we dont get it down low. I think ALMOST EVERYONE who watches the Rox knows of its problems. From the quotes I read, the Rox players all express that we must feed it inside. So my question now is why is this so hard?

Granted, there are times when Yao doesnt get good position but for every time that happens, there are 5 times more occasions where he does and still doesnt get the ball.

So my theory is that the players say all this but deep inside, they DO NOT WANT TO. They all want to be heros and show everyone who is "the man".

How can we bring this "only works at home" on the road? I wish the Target Center played the Yao Ming song a little longer so the Rockets thought they're playing at home:D

Why the heck would Minnesota play the Yao Ming song and Golden State offer an autographed Yao Rockets jersey on their website.

This is asinine. If the Rockets had a LeBron James celebriduck next year, I'd throw a fit and start 1,000,000 "I hate you Tim" threads.

Sometimes it should be more than just selling tickets. That is pathetic.

It is all about selling tickets, unfortunately. My friend has season tickets to the Clips and when Rox came to LA last time, he got email that basically said "Come to see Yao play".

I just hope that all these hypes don't get to Yao's head. His humility is part of his charisma.

we don't have a new offense. we have two offenses. one that works and the other doesn't. why the rockets insist on utilizing one one night and the other the next is beyond me.
