1. Two of the 3 players we traded are infinitely expendable. 2. Richard Jefferson is a moderately talented tweener. Yipee. Just what I always wanted. He plays great when he has the best distributor in the game getting him the ball. Take Kidd away, and he's mediocre. 3. Griffin is 20, a good shotblocker, and shows the promise of a post game. That's more valuable than a slasher with dubioius range.
Okay, This may seem stupid but... I can't remember what picks the Rockets could have taken that year. We had three first rounders, but where did they fall?
absolutely, eddie griffin is not going be a great player if he keeps on launching those 3s and not playing any Ds while jefferson is a great defensive player and slowing becoming an offensive force. jefferson is going to make the all-star team next year.
but at least while we have eddie, we still get to sit back and wonder whos hes been holdin back to punch next =)
The 13th, 17th (because Minnesota forfitted their rights) and 22nd pick for the 7th overall pick in the draft. If only we moved up two more sports and picked Jason Richardson...
Personally I cant stand Eddy Griffin. Are 3's the only thing he can do? I mean they have other positions and players who are paid to do that. Cant he play an inside game? He really irritates me with his game, cause he doesnt know how to use that body. He seems like a P**** to me. Oh, I cant get hurt, i dont wanna break a nail. Man,, we didnt draft you high to get what you've been giving. Trade him, if he doesnt change his game. Also we should of never traded Kenny T. , We should of traded Griffin and Mo T. in exchange
OMG !!! he is horrable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! did u see the way he shot the ball today ??? he missed 3 wide open three pointers in a row !!! there is no excuse for that kind of play & i also dont care if he is 21 or even if he was 12 he is in the NBA and he needs to play like he is !
lol..........yesterday, I loved Eddie Griffin! Today, I regret trading for Griffin. At least Richard could shoot properly. And maybe Jason Collins could have been a good backup center. Another Jason Collier... AND MAYBe...that Armstrong guy could have been a good backup guard. But...PATIENCE
I agree with Haven. The upside for Eddie Griffin is too much for us to trade him. The guy is only 20 years old for Chrissake. He only played one year of college, and he is still learning the game. Give him time...he will blossom. The only question I have is...shouldn't the Rockets be developing him as a SF instead of a PF?????
If they were going to groom him to be a SF they should have drafted Richard Jefferson instead... they knew when they picked him he was going to be a PF.. they drafted Terrance Morris that same year which tells you they wanted EG to be a PF.. plus hes too slow to guard the elite SF's like Pierce, Carter, McGrady...
Where was your post when he scored 22 points the other day? Don't judge a player by few games. We all have "horrable" days.
I agree. Griffin needs to step it up. Yeah, I know he's still young and has a lot of potential, but I don't think the Rockets have time to wait. He needs to add some muscle and go stronger to the basket.
does anyone actually know that the only reason the Rockets drafted Jeffeson is because we were told to by the Nets? Anyone?
No, he already shoots badly well enough. He just needs to stay closer to the basket and shoot a better percentage shot -- better.
I remember seeing this in an article... if the Rockets knew Jefferson was going to be on the board at #13 they wouldn't have done the trade for Griffin. But they did the trade before the draft.
Jefferson is a better player now, no doubt about it. Is like a young, bigger Sprewell. Adding two other picks to the deal makes it look even worse. NOW But don't forget what kind of talent Griffin is. Remember the comparisons in high school (Duncan, Sheed, etc.)? This guy, along with DMiles, was the top player in his class. Look at other recent guys who were the best: Amare, LeBron, DaJuan. One should have been an All-Star, one's already the best player in the state of Ohio (Cavs included), and Wagner looks like AI with a frame to take a pounding every night. Griffin is blessed with natural basketball skills like rebounding and shotblocking that are of the rarest form. Not all succeed, and not all shine right away, but the trend has shown that by the 3rd/4th year, most of the young kids with this type of talent finally put it together. He's still only 20! How many blossomed this early? Not Kobe, TMac, Jermaine O'neal, or even Rashard Lewis. But look at them now. In three years, do you think Jefferson will be equal to these players? I don't, but I think Eddie definitely could be. In Griffin, Yao, and Steve, we have a chance to have the best trio of star players in the entire league in a couple of years; opportunities to assemble talent like that are rare and worth the wait. And certainly worth Richard Jefferson.
