Ok,ok ....how bout say, Horry. He has been a member of 5 championship teams, a solid forward and 3pt specialist with the uncanny knack of hitting the clutch shot...but I don' think he will make it.
It's not a cheap shot calling him 1-dimensional...it's a fact. The guy was non-existent on the offensive end: 58% FT, 7 PPG. He was NEVER known for his offensive prowess.
Good point. But I think that Rodman was one of the best players at his position. I don't think Horry is. Rodman should be in the Hall.
I've got Rodman over Horry all day long! but back to the jerseys... Retro Red is the way to go. Although I do think I would like them tweaked up with Gold and White trim (the 49ers pull it off well). And if it's true that Cleveland has decided to go with "wine and gold" as their colors, I'm sure we can make it different enough to work out. Afterall, the heat, bulls and blazers have.
Horry is not, and never was a "solid forward" He's the definition of mediocre and the only reason anyone knows his last name is because a few superstars got triple teamed in the final seconds of some playoff games. It's really hard to compare anyone to Rodman, he was quite a unique player.
i have a red fitted rockets hat i bought in 1992 with the old logo on it...everytime i wear it, people ask me where i got it...i usually tell them, "the early-90's!" can't tell you how many times people say, "man, i wish they'd go back to those old colors." just people out of the blue at games and out around the city...

Shooting 58% FT over your career has nothing to do w/ Dumars, Thomas, Pippen or Jordan. And yes, those were the primary offensive weapons on those teams, but it does not account FULLY for Rodman's low ppg average. He was, simply put, horrid on offense. I remember during his Bulls tenure, he would be taken out during those pts in the game where the needed offense..why? Because he was NEVER known for his offensive ablities, ask any sports analyst. Rodman was a beast on defense. He snagged rebounds better than anyone in his day and could read offenses well. And for that, he should definitely be considered for the hall. BUT, truly great players have a complete, all-around game. It's very, very questionable as to whether Rodman did or not. And for that reason, he may be looked over... and as far as Horry is concerned, I made no suggestions that he could be considered. In fact, I said he wasn't...my pt was that Horry is an shooting/3pt specialist but not much else...Rodman was a defensive specialist, but not much else. Both were supporting players for thier respective teams and both won 5 championships. BUT, Rodman definitlely has earned more acclaim (DPOY and Rebounds leader) and recoginition for his work, to which he holds and advantage over Horry..... BTW, Rodman faded away into the sun after ver short lived stints w/ LA and Dallas, two teams that both waived him. And if I'm not mistakend...Horry is still playing...for the defending champions...after playing a pretty integral part in securing that 3rd title.
oh and I do think they should bring back the red as the dominant color on the unis, simplify the logo, have a little classic but cutting edge look, to which I'm feeling optimistic....just thought i'd get that in since that is the REAL topic of this thread.
I really like the Rockets' current home shorts. That's about all I like in the jersies. In the shorts, the stripes aren't "on crack" and the red is has an awesome fading design to it.
back to the unis. you know, I really think our unis are some of the best in the league.. BUT I think that the 4-5 below-average seasons we've suffered through have left a bad taste in our mouths.. and we associate that with the unis quite a bit.. I think a lot of what makes a good uniform is the performance and reputation of those people wearing it.. and as always there are exceptions (new Rams unis, Cleveland Browns)
