he still sucks. he'll always get blocks and rebounds if he gets 10-15mpg. but it comes with too may fouls. he's avg 2.8fpg with only 12mpg. thats just the box score, there's other things he does that hurts the team more than his 5rbs and 1blk average.
For the limited role they're asking of him, why does it matter how much he fouls? They aren't in need of starter minutes out of him, but he gives good rim-protection for when Ibaka is sitting out of the game. This allows the Thunder to have a shot-blocker on the floor throughout the entire game.
he can do that with any team. just that he hurts his team more than he helps. the thunder are good enough to compensate for whatever thabeet lacks. but that doesnt make it ok. he's a below average backup imo. i think eventaully he's gonna fall out of the rotation . t off topic - i dont get why they dont play collison more. do they even know who he is? all of thabeets minutes should go to him
We should definitely clone Nick Collison so there can be 2 of him out there with the 2nd unit. Collison averages 18 minutes a game. Thabeet averages 12 minutes a game. What exactly are you talking about?

I disagree that he's playing like a below-average backup, because I can't name 14 backup C's who are better than him. And even if I could name 14, that would make him average. Thabeet has been playing well in his role at OKC. I doubt he falls out of the rotation given the way he's been playing.
He's still a very bad basketball player, but he serves a purpose now. That's the difference now with Thabeet. The Rockets still made a good decision by not picking up his option. For a player like this, its too much of a salary cap load for a bumbling, fumbling big man you can throw out there for a few minutes a game to take up space in the paint. With the style of play Scott Brooks chooses to utilize, he sort of fits the need off the bench. On a side note, I dont know why Brooks insists on playing the style of play they do play. Which is a slow half court style of play with lot of p&r with bigs who aren't great rollers and take up too much unnecessary space on offense. It speaks to the talent of Durant and Westbrook that they still are able to be a top level team even with what I consider a very mediocre coach. If I was the GM of the Thunder, I would try my hardest to trade Perkins and move Ibaka to the 5 spot. Try to install a sort of hybrid offense similar to the one ran in San Antonio with a more up and down game. Between Durant, Westbrook, and Martin, you should be a much easier 80 to 90 points a game. As for Thabeet... whatever. Good for the him. He's finally found some motivation to actually make a career out of basketball. Im still glad the Rockets took a chance on him for the year they had him, and it made perfect sense at the time to let him walk in the offseason, and trade him & Flynn for Camby.
Wake me up when Hasheem is = to Asik. Can someone tell Hasheem, his nickname will never be the "Dream." Laughing at someone's twitter.
Did anyone see the score? The clip shows OKC up by nearly 40 points the entire game... Of course when the other team's moral is low then garbage players have time to shine. Not taking away from Thabeet, but I would like to see this kind of play during a close game.

It may be a while for your wish to come true. Most backup Cs don't play when the game is on the line. For now, all they want him to do is not be a disaster on the court. Mission accomplished, plus some.
