duane has to be in the top 3, hes been overlooked but the guys who consistently get the nod as top 3, clady, peters, thomas, even long, must be playing to perfection because thats what duane brown has been doing. its not a glamor position, so its hard to imagine what these guys are doing that duane isn't..
I think it's obvious that he is top 3 and has been for a couple years now. My heart skipped a beat when he got banged up on that one play.
i know me too. on a side note it was cool seeing matthews on the titans sideline. sorry, i will always love that guy
People laffed at me when I said he was the best around. Now whoze laffin? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/E-WHW-QNswE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
If no one has anything bad to say about you as a guard, then you're good. If they are talking about you in a positive manner, then you're really good.
FWIW, Footballoutsiders tallied up least sacks given up this season by linemen. Myers(Zero Sacks in 799 snaps) and Brown(1 sack in 790 snaps) made the list. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/under-pressure/2012/under-pressure-shutdown-tackles
Interesting to see Eric Winston on that list. That was always the knock on him was that he was a great road grader run blocker but gave up too many sacks.
I saw him block 3 Lions on a TD run, and he doesn't give up sacks. I may have said he wasn't number one before the season but he's having that kind of a year.
Yup the guy is a beast. I believe has giving up only 1 sack and 1 holding call which was in his rookie season. When he went out in the Titans game i was praying he made it back into the game.
(Sacks happening are a lot on the QUARTERBACKS themselves, too.) If it was Michael Vick back there, he'd be getting himself sacked even with decent protection. (Tried to not mention obvious "David Carr" but we're thinking it, might as well). So its partly Matt Schaub helping them look good too with his proficient anti-sack throwaways. Though ZERO sacks over 2 years is impressive by any measure

Well the article that compared the sack percentage above eliminates QB sacks and coverage sacks so it is a better measure than just looking at total sack numbers. Can't really measure sacks saved by the QB throwaways, though.
