Would you be okay with Mercilus replacing one of the starters?

I love our team, love the record, but a part of me wishes Reed would not come back so quick after being injured...or Barwin would be traded...

Mercilus seems to be a player that can get better and has shown some good stuff. I'm just a tad frustrated with Reed, and Barwin...we need, need a second force beyond Watt. I'm fine with even Cody and Scooby-doo, but we need to get that production from the OLB position...

I do want to see Mercilus get more playing time. In limited action I think he has 3 sacks and a forced fumble or two. I trust what the coaching staff is doing with Mercilus but I do see your point. But I would also like to keep as much depth available as possible.I definately hope Reed is not out for an extended period of time.

His contain and screen recognition are below average. But that is expected of rookies. I think he will learn.

No choice now. Brooks Reed has a torn groin and may be out for the season. Merciless on the weak side Barwin on the strong side and that actually worked in pressuring the qb yesterday so I'm fine with that. Rest up Reed, see you in the playoffs

No telling if or when Reed may return so, Mercilus has to start.

Technically, Reed seems the better coverage OLB but Barwin is no slouch and just behind him. We might have to start using Nading or Brahman more in rotations but I am not too worried. This is why we drafted Mercilus for and if we can't retain Barwin, why we are likely to draft another one in the top three rounds again.

Maybe there will be a small drop off but it shouldn't be that large.

That would be interesting, but I would also like to see more of Brahman; I like his motor.

I trust this coaching staff to know who should and shouldn't be playing. If they think Mercilus and Braman are worse choices than Reed and Barwin then I believe them. Guess we will see.

I see what you did there.

Did you see him pull out the hacky sack move last week on the football after the punt went into the end zone he jumped on the ball and did a jump serve with his feet?

If you saw the game and ever had an injury like that you'd know what it looks like. But that would require you to be or at least have been an athlete

Yeah but I have seen Barwin in pass coverage alot this year. Barwin is asked to do more than Mercilus. My guess is Mercilus is just asked to put pressure on the QB and that's about it.

3-4 weeks for Reed. It's like a blessing in disguise, since Mercilus will get time to build up his confidence and we'll have three full-strength OLB ready to go come playoff time.

The last two games would be disturbing if our full personnel were out on the field on defense. As it stands, we're bottoming out at the perfect time. Nothing like close losses (aside from actual losses) to light a fire under a team's ass. What the Patriots are doing right now is what you DON'T want to be doing if you're trying to peak in January. Don't worry guys, Wade Phillips and Kubiak are planning it perfectly.

How can you see a torn groin without an MRI? Do former athletes have that ability? Impressive, REDNINJA!
