    Week 15

1 - Mavericks 38-9 - People only talk about their losses, but at some point you have to concede that they have only nine of them. Rockets, Wolves and Jazz all tried to rough Mavs up in the past week, and all failed.

2 - Spurs 31-16 - If Admiral's back, why are there rumors about moving Steve Smith for Elden Campbell? Because of Admiral's back. Meanwhile, back at their nine-game trip, Spurs at 3-1 with Warriors and Nuggets next.

3 - Trail Blazers - 30-16 If there's a problem, and Blazers always have you looking in spite of their amazing climb, it's that they've only got 15 games left on the road and 21 at home. Portland has been at its best away from Portland.

4 - Pistons 31-15 - If any East team deserves to muscle in on top 5, it's these guys right now. Friday's amazing rout of Celts, including a 60-point lead at one stage, made Pistons a tidy 6-2 against rest of East's top four.

5 - Kings 33-16 - Logic says they can't play through every injury and now they're missing both first-half MVPs: Bobby and Webber. Encouraging for them: We probably just jinxed Mavs for tonight.

12 - Rockets 26-20 - Picked a good time to beat Wolves and Kings, with Lakers gaining. Yao's rebounding, too, but you wonder how fatigued he'll be feeling after the worldwide crush of attention at AS Weekend.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Still at the same spot. I guess they going to have to prove more in the weeks to come in order to move up.

I noticed that too. We have beat them twice his year and are 4 games ahead of them in the standings, yet they are ranked 3 spots higher than we are?

No the Lakers are not ranked too high. We are danger of losing our spot because the Lakers are playing so well right now we know that eventually they are going to get right back into it. Hopefully we can overtake the Timberwolves before this happens.

It takes a lot longer for a non-playoff team to gain respect than it does for a 3 time championship team to lose it.

I think the Nuggets should be 27th. And the Raptors should be lower.

Yeah, ok.................so what's that got to do with buying eggs in China on a Thursday?

Sorry, I just didn't see what your statement had to do with this thread.;)

Anyways, I think it's fair for the Lakers to be that high. It was only a matter of time before they managed to get back on track. I feel it is more important to beat out the T Wolves and Jazz than worry about the Lakers.

Actually the Lakers didn't gain on the Rockets, the Rockets fell to them. If the Rockets don't go into the funk they hit the last 2 weeks they're 5 or 6 games ahead of the Lakers. As long as the Rockets newfound teamwork keeps up the Lakers aren't catching them, and the Rockets might make a run at the 5th seed in the West. Besides the Rockets technically aren't the 8th seed, they're sitting there now because the Suns have played more games. In reality the Suns are the team the Lakers are chasing, the Suns have 21 losses while the Rockets have 20. A win tonight would be nice, and would jump the Rockets into the 7th spot. And if the Rockets win tonight and tomorrow against the Cavs the Rockets are sitting in the 6th spot come All-Star break, and maybe in the 5th spot if the Grizzlies pull off an upset of the Jazz.

whatever ground they may have gained doesn't make one bit of difference as the lakers do not currently have a playoff spot and are 4 games back of the rockets. it is a JOKE that they are ranked higher. F#$k LA.

that being said power rankings are worthless anyways.

ESPN power rankings are based a lot on how hot a team is at the moment...
