I know UT did it last year; could they finish in the top 5 of all three major sports next year? Basketball looks possible, baseball may be probable and football has a chance. Incredible.

Maybe? Can we look that up?

Major, I could have sworn we ended up in the top ten after the Oregon loss.

Actually, going into the tourney, I do not think they even ranked in one of the polls. Getting the wins in the tourney moved them into the lower half of the top 25.

They were 20-11 and unranked going into the Big XII Tourney, and they lost to OU in the semi's.

Right, I knew this. He was asking where they ended up.

I know college baseball is big here in the south, but some Big Ten schools would argue college hockey is bigger, and I would argue that track and field is bigger than college baseball. So I don't think there is a consensus on the third sport, that's the point I'm trying to make.

No way track and field or college hockey is bigger overall than baseball, college-wise. A better argument would be for women's basketball.

Ask someone from University of Michigan or Wisconisn how big college hockey is to them?

As far as track and field is concerned, have you ever been to the Texas Relays, or the Penn Relays. Those are pretty big events.

Well ask someone from UT, Rice, LSU, Florida State, Stanford, Cal-State Fullerton, Clemson, Arizona State, USC, or Baylor how big college baseball is to them.

I've heard of both the Texas Relays and the Penn Relays. Most people haven't. Most people have heard of the College World Series.

I'm not going to argue about this, college baseball is way down the rung behind football and basketball, and some schools consider other sports bigger. That's the only point I'm making. There is no way to settle this.

Well, I can say that Notre Dame has never done it, but it looks like they have an equal shot this year.

Except they didn't finish in the top 5 or the top 10 in football.

Sure there is. I bet more schools in the United States put college baseball above college hockey and track & field.

What does put above mean? are you going to poll every student at every NCAA Division I school.

Well, you could probably look at the television ratings of each sport, the number of programs in each sport, and the attendence of each sport, for one thing.
