Bad news. Looks like the Fiona Apple show for tonight has been postponed due to her arrest for hash possession.
For Sonic Youth fans, Lee Ranaldo performing as part of Text of Light on Saturday, 9/22. http://www.namelesssound.org/events/2012_09_22_text_of_light.html
Here's my schedule Sept 29: Animal Collective (New Orleans) Oct 12: The Weeknd (Houston) Oct 13: Crystal Castles w/ HEALTH (Austin) Oct 28: Justice (Houston) Oct 31: Streetlight Manifesto (Houston) Nov 2-4: Fun Fun Fun Fest (Austin) Nov 14- Paul McCartney (Houston) Dec 1- Morrissey (Beaumont) year is looking pretty good.
Yeah, saw that. I'm actually kind of glad because my back is all jacked at the moment, so standing at the show wouldn't have been fun.
Saw Animal Collective in New Orleans on Saturday night. It was there or Austin (I'm in Beaumont, so equal distance either way), and the NOLA one was in a small 800 person venue while the Austin one was in a huge outdoors 8000 person venue (though I heard it got moved inside due to rain). Good decision. One of my favorite shows ive been to. Wasn't expecting it to be THAT good, because I didn't really know how AnCo's music would transfer live. I think it helped a lot that the crowd was great, everyone around me was into it and going crazy (which is why I'm glad I picked the NOLA show). Brothersport is one of the best live songs ive ever heard, huge dance party/sing-a-long during it. Wish the set had a bit more older material (they only played Lion in a Coma, My Girls, Brothersport, Peacebone, and Cobwebs, everything else was from Centipede Hz). I really want to hear For Reverend Green and/or Fireworks one day but I'm not sure I'll ever get to. Also met Panda Bear after the show. Went out and went down Bourbon after the show (not a whole lot to do there when you are only 19), and I passed back by the venue on the way to my car, and I decided to walk over towards the tour buses just because, and Panda Bear was hanging around talking to fans. Got to talk to him a bit. He seemed like a really cool dude. I asked him why they skipped Houston this tour and he said something about how they don't do very long tours and have to pick and choose cities (i kinda doubt he makes the decision on that anyway), but he said they'd try to go there next tour. He better not have been lying to me, I'm going to hold him to that.
