No more trades! Keep this team and let it gel. If we do bring someone in, it better be a "sharp-shooter".
Why? um... maybe to win a championship? you know the thing called finals.... so your saying if a player is a headcase he shouldn't be on the Rockets or on any team? So the Pacers have no use for a player like Ron Artest... I guess the Bulls didn't have no use for Rodman's rebounding abilities.... c'mon now get REAL.. any fans who wouldn't want to have young players like Ron Artest or Drew Gooden on their team is completely out of their mind. If they got game who cares what kind of traits they have.
Gooden is a no-no for this team. He is exactly the same type of player as Kenny Thomas. Why do you think that we traded KT?
The was saying if you have too many people conserned with the ME in team and not everyone else then you will never get to the finals... also a player without good defense really only becomes a role player off the bench a scoring threat just like Motay.. Defense wins chanmpionships remember
The traits haven listed are directly related to his game. Gooden is not a headcase like Artest is a headcase. Gooden is a me-first whiner who doesn't play defense. The last thing this team needs is a player like that.
Comparing Gooden to Artest was the best laugh I had today (and I just read the Steven Wright thread in the hangout). Thanks, aka ace!
If Memphis really wants to trade Gooden why would they disparage him? Why not just say he is very good, but with Gasol we don't have PT for him. Either that or it is Swift or Battier they really think is the complaining head case and the one they really want to trade so laying the blame on Gooden is a distraction strategy. IMO Gooden is a good young player on both ends of the court, and is probably not a head case. I guess I just don't think these comments are worth used toilet paper. Still, I probably would not trade Gooden for EG if for no other reason than Gooden doesn't have EGs reach and consequently is more of a 4/3 in the West. EG could grow into a lock down, prototypical 4, I just don't see Gooden growing into that. Now offer me Amare or Gasol for EG........
Riet - LMAO!!! Absolutely LOVED the translations. Of all the rumors and possibilities listed I wonder what our chances of landing Jason Terry would be? IMHO, of all the choices, Terry would be far and away the best overall fit for the Rockets: * An excellent outside shooter * Could play the 1 and free S.F. up to play the 2, and allow Cat to come off the bench. What would we have to give up? * Maybe Collier, Mooch and a #1 pick down the road??? Thoughts anyone?
Collier? Do you think that the rest of the league is stupid and we Rox fans are so cunning that we can slip that trade through? Collier has NO trade value. Moochie is a throw in. We dont have a draft pick this year (goes to Memphis for Stevie) so the draft pick scenario isnt great either. We will need to give up the likes of Cat or Eddie and maybe both for Terry.
Jerry West, guru of drafts past, was very, very high on Gooden at the time of the Yao Ming draft. I recall him saying that Gooden was the steal of the draft at #4. The hero of the Kobe Swindle seems to have blown this one, but no one is questioning his genius. Could be be fallible after all?
LMAO, the Sixers trade for a guy every year and it' like this is the guy who's going to put us over the top. Then about a month later said guy is on the trading block. You're right though it's a front court carousel giving off the illusion that they're trying to better themselves.
I'd love to have Ron Artest. I have no particular averson to headcases. It depends very much on what kind of headcase a player is. Overly-aggressive, intense players who throw their heart into games and occasionally get carried away? Count me in! Especially when they play great defense, play selflessly, and don't seem to care about individual stats. Players described as lazy, me-first, and lackadaisacal on defense? Dude, why not just get JR Rider? He's an established veteran, too! Wow. Maybe we can land him in time for our playoff run.

Gooden's stat line tonight. Minutes: 31 (is he being showcased? If he always gets this and is comlaining than he is a bizatch) Points: 14 FG: 6-13 3PT FG: 2-3 (What?? He can shoot threes?) Rebounds: 10 (5 offensive, 5 defensive) Assits: 1 Turnover: 3 Personally, I would stay away from Gooden. I don't see him ever being that much better than a Griffin that the deal is worth it, especially if his complaining tendencies and lack of defense is true. This is Juwan Howard 7 years later - except the CBA won't let him get fat paid. However, if they're trying to showcase him, they couldn't have asked for a better statline.
