How does trash pickup work in your neighborhood? We were provided a recycle/trash cart recently, and new rules state that anything that doesn't fit into one of those won't be picked up. Its kind of a pain when it comes to any large cardboard boxes, or old furniture you need to get rid of. It's kind of a pain sometimes; I had to rent a truck from HomeDepot yesterday to get rid of all my large trash. Also a pain was finding a place to actually dump the trash. Never realized the fines/strictness for dumping in random business trash cans.
What part of the city are you in? We have those same receptacles, and I believe heavy trash is once a month. You might look on the City of Houston Trash pickup page. Really wish it was picked up more than just every Monday though.
Like Longhorn said, there should be a heavy trash day where they do pick up all large items. Our area only provides smaller recycling bins, but i will leave broken down cardboard boxes next to it and they do take them.
Sugar Land; Just got off the phone with them, apparently heavy trash is Mondays, she told me to just leave the flattened cardboard boxes on the side, yet their website says something different (Must be put in recycle bin)
Are you new to the area Just tear up the boxes and fold the pieces, so they fit in the recycling bin.
Don't be so hard on him guys From the great mind that brought us this: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=200137
My neighborhood in Spring started that a year and a half ago, originally they only had 2 large trash days per year, but that didnt work so they increased it to 4 a year. Trash pickup weekly Recycling pickup bi-weekly Large trash quarterly I havent had a problem with cardboard, I have been forced to cut some boxes up but its not a big deal.
It's easy math. Based on some of your posts and your takes on here I can conclude that you're not yet very successful in entrepreneurship nor the corporate world which leads me to the conclusion that you can't afford a house in a neighborhood that has trash and recycle pickup. It's possible that you have your own apartment but very unlikely that you own your own piece of real estate. Therefore, you live with your parents? How's my math?
^ Adeel. Don't take that personally. It's my Schtick around here to act like all cf.net'ers are broke and live with their mom. lol - Thx for the rep comment & I'm glad you didn't take that the wrong way. It was all just part of my thing.
Your conclusion was correct, although the math was off. If you would have said, since you are Muslim and probably of some Middle Eastern/South Asian background and most of those people generally (culturally) live in joint families. Kids usually live with their parents till they graduate college, and then once they are settled, the parents then live with them/ the kids take care of the parents. Therefore, you live with your parents. It would have been spot on Also, I don't think I have ever tried my hands at a business venture (besides the occasional buying and selling of phones on HI/ebay/craigslist/clutchfans in college).
Finally, I can post this in a thread! <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/573O2P5W7Hk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Stick out your can!
