the Patriots lost the superbowl last year, because welker dropped a ball, the defense couldnt stop the Giants in the last series. (same as in the other super bowl). Aaron Rodgers lost to the Colts, because dropped and the defense couldnt hold the Colts in the last series. Drew Bress needed his team to win the superbowl against the colts (special teams recovering an onside kickoff, the defense intercepting Peyton in the last play, the WRs/TEs making plays, etc a QB always need help from his defense, and his other teammates (RBs, WRs, etc). even the great defenses, they need help from the QB. ravens D needed Trent Dilfer, to not make mistakes to win the superbowl. the 49ers defense needs alex smith to dont have turnovers, if Smith keep throwing INTs in their territory, thats almost 3 points in the score. another example, the San Diego vs Denver game, Peyton didnt got any help by his team, dropping kickoffs, punts, defense allowing 24 pts in one half, receivers falling when it was a sure TD, etc. and then when he got help from the defense creating turnovers, the WRs having great catches, and no fumbles in the special teams, then he played better. a game is not won by only one part of the team, all the team needs to play good. and I could go on and on, with examples about when one part of the team its not doing their job, the other part cant win.
i always laugh at the ones who claim game manager for 8. It's their way to justify a winning season and not give credit to where credit is due. Game managers don't mount back to back 4,000 yard seasons when everyone wasn't putting those numbers up.
Are you complaining about that particular call in conditions like this? This is a game you simply throw everything out the window and be pleased that the team won on the road, in prime time, in miserable conditions.
This is the one time...being conservative is the right play...but not always...Kubiak is always conservative...but thats what we needed tonight...Foster, ball security...and defensive stops...
Having been unable to see the game I was originally hard on the team for such a porous offensive showing. But after reading and hearing about the conditions I think it's one you are just thankful that nobody fell down and gave up a fluke TD to lose the game. Had this same performance been indoors or even on a nice afternoon, then the discussion could continue. But tonight's game doesn't need to be considered during this discussion....
I asked a question...I had future inlaws in town and had to miss the first quarter...I saw that we ran, but didnt know if it was a draw play. Just thought it would be funny if it was a draw. Most people kept saying thats something Kubiak does with a 14 point lead in the 4th quarter...but he does that regardless of time. I watched back later....Im fine with being conservative, although, I would have liked to be slightly more aggressive at times. Not complaining, bc the conditions sucked...but even the conservative Bears tried to air it out a few times. On those plays, it didnt hurt them, but it would have been nice to try to catch the Bears off guard a little bit, as everything was very predictable. 4 turnovers helped. If you guys noticed, on 3rd and 19, had we not passed the ball, Graham wouldnt have hit that FG in the end...so that was a good play call.
Yes because it's intellectually dishonest. The defense isn't carrying a bad offense. The Texans' offense is very, very good. Wade made the team better, undoubtedly. He fixed a side of the ball Kubiak had absolutely screwed beyond reason - but they were in position to bring in a DC, as opposed to a new HC, because everyone agreed the offense was already playoff-caliber. You obviously missed more than the 1Q, or you would have seen Schaub rolling out in his own end zone (which scared the living crap out of me). He then completed a huge 3rd down deep in their own territory. Altogether, he threw 26 times, only 5 fewer than his season average. I would argue he threw too much. (PS - I did laugh at the 1Q draw. It was justified but I still thought of this thread...)
There was a big 3rd and 7 in the 4th quarter that Schaub placed perfectly in Graham's hands, only for him to drop it. Not really trying to imply anything here.....carry on.
Your point Makes no creaking sense at all and in fact you bringing this up when 1) the defense turned the bears over the next series and 2) later in the game on 3rd and 10 Schaub threw an int. you're just looking stupid now.
What point? Running on 3rd and long in general or in the Bears game? In general, yeah, I disagree with running on 3rd and long when its a 0-0 game in the first quarter...but Ive always said that context matters. If you're talking about the Bears game, what point did I make other than when I said that I was okay with being conservative? I didnt even say anything negative about the draw play. I thought it was funny given the fact that it was a topic of discussion, but I never disagreed with it. Did you forget to read my post or did you just twist your panties so quickly that you had to type without thinking? How about you go back, read it again, and then try to figure out what you're actually trying to refer to. Thanks champ.
That single play doesn't irk me as much as the entire body of work for the game.... It's not just the O, it's all around....
Yeah, I understand the whole game has sucked...but our defense isnt doing crap, so why give up on the drive? We cant afford to keep giving Jacksonville the ball. We need to at least try. Kubiak's achilles heal as a coach, playing scared.
