Actually, it's called P&R Iso Rockets style with the way they have been executing it. Anyway, i meant P&R and Iso ball.
Care to comment on the actual gist of my post rather than being a fail-to-use-conjunctions police? Thanks.
Just to focus on the Batum trade a bit more, at what point can "we were going all in that year" justify it? What if Batum bumps LA as Portland's franchise player and leads them to a championship?
How is this his worst trade? He went in win now mode by snagging Artest to be a third guy behind Tmac and Yao. He did kinda carry us further in the playoffs than Tmac did. And how exactly does Batum's game resemble Tmac's game?
Gay is so overrated around here. The talent level of a roleplayer and the playstyle of a superstar do not mesh. I don't regret that the Rockets traded the pick for Battier.
P&R is the play that EVERY team runs down the stretch. Portland ran it literally every single time around when we played against them. Miami Heat's entire playbook consists of Lebron/Wade pick and rolls/pop with Bosh. Our last generation of superstars (Yao and McGrady) ran exclusively pick and rolls throughout their limited time together, and they were near unstoppable with that play. We won so many games we shouldn't have just with this play alone. Even the best coach in the game right now (Popovich) runs exclusively pick and rolls with Parker and Duncan down the stretch. It's reliable, and the players have better control of the clock.
A very mediocre disguised Fire McHale/Sampson thread. Kind of funny how the best coach in Rockets history is always the guy that just left a few years ago. Oh, how I remember threads after threads of Adelman-bashing here and longing for the days of JVG. It is most certainly the circle of clutchfans life.
That's your opinion. Again, my point here is to get our voices heard and for the coaching staff utilize our players up to their potentials. Most specifically, Jeremy Lin. Either Morey tells the staff to change their strategy or he hires a new coach, i really could care less. But one thing is definite, they have to let Jeremy play his game. If i wanted McHale to be fired then i could just type Fire McHale over and over but i won't. I actually want him to succeed as a Rockets coach, meh.
For starters, body-wise, he's nearly identical in height and build. 6'8, long arms. Athleticism is crazy. Game-wise, his range is up to the 3-point line with a very high release and swats shots like crazy. He doesn't have T-Mac's crazy quick first step and the thing that makes a superstar but, like I said, he's a lite... at least for now.
Alright maybe i should change the topic to.. "When will the coaching staff allow Lin to be Lin?" And at least be the Robin to Batman Harden and also give him a chance to create and put the ball in his hands during crucial parts of the game from time to time even at least whenever the Harden iso and p&r isn't working.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/hb4MPVHd-XQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Now compare that to the way he would normally play with us during crucial moments of the game. With the Rockets during winning time.. Lin would take the ball past the half-court line, pick up his dribble and pass the ball to Harden, and run to his corner and just stand there spotting up like he was Steve Novak. Not even once he would tell his teammates to back off and let him take over and create. When the game gets tight in the 4th, 9 out of 10 times, he will defer to Harden. He attempted a wide open, potential game winner once and shot an airball. Why? Sign of total lack of confidence. You ask a player to defer and to not play his own game, you'd almost certainly expect him to be passive and unsure of himself especially during crunch time.
I would say letting scola go...however that brings up a difficult question. Would you rather win more now with Scola, or lose and get a higher draft pick with more cap space. BTW if we had scola we would won both portland games, and probably the miami game.
Big Adelman fan here. Found a a recently good read, "Adelman recognized as pioneer of modern NBA" http://www.csnbayarea.com/basketball-golden-state-warriors/warriors-talk/Adelmans-fingerprints-found-all-over-NBA?blockID=803145&feedID=2799&awid=6954044544350842516-766dID=2799&awid=6954044544350842516-766 "He lost out on the Lakers’ job, yet his fingerprints can be found on nearly every team in the NBA this season – including those self-same Lakers. Phil Jackson? No. Rick Adelman. The most common set being used by teams this season goes by a variety of names – Corner, Push, Wide, Motion, Sacramento –"
Dragic for Lin... just watched some highlights of dragic vs. the lakers... him and harden would have been unstoppable and beautiful really breaks my heart
