There has been alot of attention on Posey's upcoming contract but very little attention on Tmo's expiring contract. Atleast with Posey we will have his bird rights so he is not going anywhere unless the rockets don't think he is worth the money other teams are going to be offering. However, we do not have Tmo's bird rights since he has only played two years. How much of the MCE, would you be willing to offer him? I think we should offer him another 2 year contract for about 1-2 million a year. And if he continues to improve we will have his bird rights and give him whatever he wants at the end of the two years.
I think we can probably sign him for the $1 million exception to a short contract. He needs another season to establish his value anyway.
That would be the most lopsided trade in the history of the NBA. Please tell me you're kidding A-Train....
What am I thinking! That trade doesn't even work under the CBA! Now, throw in Maddox and Collier and it's good to go.
We should let him see what offers he can get out there and then match the highest offer since I believe he wants to stay here. We should handle him the same way we did with Mobley, another 2nd rounder. Mobley took the security over market value and Tmo may do the same. Sign for a longer period with a modest annual average.
rockbox, TMo does have Bird rights, just not full Bird rights. You do not need to use the MCE on him. You can pay him up to the league average (just like the MCE provides) by the fact he is an Early Qualifying Veteran for the Rockets. That said, Cato, MoT, Moochie, Rice is one expensive bench, as is...and Nachbar is a #15 pick...how much are you going to spend on this bench? "as much as he wants" really??
Only if he keeps improving. Tmo could become another Rashard with better D. I mean if he can keep his shooting percentage near 50% while taking more of active load in the offense, why not pay him. If TMo provides that then we would definitely be title contenders and who cares how much we are over the cap.
Terence stayed all four years at Maryland. He could have gone pro after his sophmore year after being projected as a top 5-8 pick. Later after his decision to stay at Maryland U. a foot injury set him back in the summer after his soph year. TMo was very loyal to his high school coach. IMO, knowing what kind of person Terence is, if the Rocket are close to any other offer, Terence would choose the Rockets. FREDTERP
It may be an expensive bench but that is the price for having insurance at all spots. Also, it is for this same reason I could not follow along with those who thought the rockets were years away and wanted to act like it. They are not years away if you consider an inferior version of this team won 45 games two years ago. If we can appreciate that and consider that our expensive bench are all vets, then we should be expecting big things this year. By big things I mean we have to be accounted for in the west. While we have not quite put it all together yet this season, we have proven that we are right there with the powerhouses in the west. In addition our defense and rebounding, key ingredients for playoff success, remain one of the best in the league.
you guys have to be kidding me. morris has had a decent game or 2, but hes definitely not worth over a million dollars. if he keeps up what hes been doing the last week or 2, which is very unlikely, he might be worth a million. hes only slightly improved over last year. the only difference between the stats is hes hitting about 1 out of 10 more 2 pointers than last year, but shooting even a worse 3 pt percentage. here are the numbers if you dont believe me. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/statistics?statsId=3543
