Crap. They're all over the place, and many seem to have attacked young girls. I'd kill'm. Enter your zip: http://records.txdps.state.tx.us/soSearch/default.cfm
There was a story on one of the Dallas news stations just the other day talking about how few of the DPS address records for sex offenders were correct.
Anyone I mean anyone can be a sex offender. A couple of years ago, I found out one of my good friend's dad was arrested for aggravated sexual assault of a child. The guy is a 50+ year old semi-religious Indian with a wife and several kids who is known in the community. I spent the night at my friend's place with him being there. He was a really nice guy and when I first heard the news I thought they had the wrong guy. I mean I couldn't say one bad word about the guy. I haven't been in contact with my friend, but I hear his dad's act caused his family to break up. I sometimes see the dad around and all I can think in my head is child molester.
I check this site periodically, makes me sick. Cohen, I am with you. Someone messes with my little boy, I would hurt them bad, very bad. How do you molest a 4yr old girl, sick SOB. Why can't the laws be tougher for these crimes?
Dude, that was freaky. There was one right next door to me. Fortunately I think it's an old address because no one that old lives there.
hey! i used to live in that zip code!! i didn't realize you live out on the west side of town...we're neighbors fortunately there was no one from my neighborhood on the list...
My zip code has 26 offenders. I figured as much, though, since I live in 77006, which includes the Montrose area.
Mine has zero.......for now! It seems last year I looked this up in my area, and a few were found. Maybe they moved.
What is this some sort of interrogation process? I don't have anything against homosexuals. Most that I know are actually kinda funny. I don't approve of their lifestyle, but as long as they don't bug me, I don't have any issues with them as people. I've always thought the Montrose area was a safe haven for those not generally accepted by society, so I figured there would be a fair number of sex offenders there.
26? That's nothing. Try 46 here in 77008 (West Heights area). I've seen this website before, so I'm not surprised. And while it is disconcerting, our justice system is set up so that once someone has served their sentence, they are able to get back to a productive life. So once these people have served their time and are released from prison, they do have to live somewhere. Why should I think that it won't be in my neighborhood?
Yeah, Mrs. JB, I've never really understood it either. If you think that these sex offenders are dangerous enough to warrant that their new neighbors be informed of their new address, then why in the hell do you release them? Hell, I'd love to know if a burglar or a car thief lived next door to me. How about an arsonist? How about someone who's been convicted of DWI? IMO, if you've served your sentence, that should be it. If you don't feel like they're not dangerous to others, don't release them. Please save the "you don't have any kids argument, RM95". I have five adorable neices and nephews that I'd gladly murder for if anything was ever done to them.
Recidivism rate. I'd love if they could leave them in jail, but they cannot. They serve time for the offense, but we all know that they are not 'cured' just because they've been released. Recidivism rates are much higher for sex offenders than other offenses, from what I recall. It'd be nice if there was some way to help cure the affliction while incarcerated, but I am not aware of viable options there. And RM, FWIW, I have nieces and nephews also but as much as you may love them, there's no comparing them to your own child. It's kinda like, if something was to happen to someone else and you had to think before putting your life in danger to protect them....versus your own child, where your reaction would be more like an insitinctive reflex (whatever that meant).
