http://www.bundle.com/article/most-and-least-fashionable-cities-america/ Props to Dallas and Plano for representing the dirty South. All the top 5 cities are heavily old money influence, and that's a good indicator of where class is coming from. Houston, on the other hand.
I'm actually glad Houston isn't on the list. I love walking around town in my workout clothes and not feeling like an outcast. It's more comfortable and you can save a ton on money this way.
People say this all the time, but I've never felt that way. I live in Colorado now where it is MUCH more casual. I always feel obligated to dress up every time I got back to Houston.
OC is home to Irvine CA, not the other way around. also, nothing says fashion forward like Flushing NY. "lot of common parts in Queens"
You can do that in LA and Sydney as well... even Paris. The real issue is how fashionable your workout clothes are. How tight are they around the crotch and do your muscles glisten? The tighter the body, the more they can pull off. There's a misconception that fashion conscious means $2,000 Burberry cardigans and iron pressed clothes all the time. There are tons of people sporting the junkie/homeless look in Spain. But consciously being aware of the look you are sporting, that requires some thoughtfulness. As you go down the list, you see cities with larger groups of dull people who are more interested in survival and nesting than putting in thought to presentation. Or people with neck beards who live in caves. It might be a bad genetics thing, but this study shows there are too many pear shaped dudes and box shaped girls in Houston. Fashion isn't appealing to non hot people, they are more concerned with coupons and drive through specials.
Why... wear whatever you want. Own it baby. It really doesn't matter for guys - the investment bankers who are always suited up ($2,000+) are some of the biggest losers I've met. But with girls, it's a different story. If she can't present herself .. she doesn't have anything. Just a lot of nag and insecurity at not being able to be validated at the highest level.
Beyond the obvious who the f cares response, the footnote itself describes something completely different than "most fashionable". The methodology describes "most fashion conscious". Part of being a hipster is not being fashion conscious, even if you ultimately end up fashionable, or pretending to not be fashion conscious.
I'm surprised SF is kinda low on that list. Dallas and SF are in the wrong spots, should be switched.
