Some tweets from Royce. First one kind of echoes what I said before. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>It's sad to think ppl ACTUALLY think should be higher on my priority list then health..you can't enjoy success OR money without health.</p>— Royce White (@Highway_30) <a href="https://twitter.com/Highway_30/status/268548743882735616" data-datetime="2012-11-14T02:59:44+00:00">November 14, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>\ <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>I informed the <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23Rockets">#Rockets</a> of every practice I was going to miss. There were no unexplained misses.</p>— Royce White (@Highway_30) <a href="https://twitter.com/Highway_30/status/268570698065264640" data-datetime="2012-11-14T04:26:58+00:00">November 14, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
If he's going to be a distraction just drop him and be done with it. I think everyone here is really overstating his NBA ceiling.
Why get rid of him? While I am sure he has friends on the roster, I doubt any of them are that upset because more then likely they have their own issues with playing time (possibly at the same position White would have had) or usage on the court, so I doubt he is a distraction to the team's players. Right now, he is only hurting himself, future players with similar issues and the coaching staff that a number of fans want gone anyway (who reportedly gave the major push to get White drafted). People are over blowing the situation as if White had a chance of getting playing time this season as the team currently stands, which he didn't and ironically was one of his complaints. Fans and media really need to let the situation go and play out behind the scenes, every pick is a gamble and frankly White's potential impact as a player this season NEVER warranted this amount of drama.
Rockets need to come to a resolution...This can't become a recurring theme with him. Whether you think the Rockets are a play-off team or not, their goal should be to win games and distractions like this don't help that cause. Also, We have no impact on this playing out behind the scenes as both sides have put this stuff out on twitter and in the media. All we can do is talk about what they are putting out in the public.
The fines will tell us alot about Royce's longevity with the Rockets. If he keeps going at the owner/GM of the Rockets personally on Twitter, the fines will keep on coming. When he see's money coming out of his pocket, he will either turn things around quick, or continue down the path he has chosen. If he continues on, I don't see him being on this team much longer.
Is it really necessary to call the guy a worthless piece of crap. How bout a wasted pick or something of that nature. It'a amazing the kind of things that are said on this board about human beings. The same folk spewing that kind of venom are the same ones loving the same "worthless" player when he does well. How bout everyone wake up and realize it's just a game for us to enjoy. The word FAN really does emanate from fanatic.
I don't know what he is thinking because I'm not him. He has that anxiety thing. Its tough. I'm still pulling for him, that he and team can find something that will work out. I still can see him being a great success story.
Its not just unnecessary, the person who posts that stuff should be removed. Right? And its not that the person who posts that stuff is a worthless piece of crap, as much as his posts are a waste of typeface.
Keep him. Bench him. Let his career stagnate. Then dump him. Don't let him pull this garbage and reward him by possibly succeeding somewhere else. This isn't his anxiety: this is a veiled attempt to blackmail the Rockets into giving him playing time. The team has given him every accommodation he's asked for. He's responded by publicly calling them out and lambasting them. Eff this guy.
Just a waste of a 1 rd pick is what it boils down to.....I can only imagine who we could have gotten in his place at that spot last draft??
No way should we cut him loose. I do think the guy has got great talent and I would hate to see him get his crap together for another team and become a star there. If he is not gonna turn things around, we should at least retain control as long as possible to prevent him from screwing us by going to another team and giving them the effort he should have given us.
People overate this kid. Yes he has handles and sees the court well...but he's an undersized four with no shooting skills. Does anyone know what his standing reach is? When i've seen him play it appeared that his reach was average to below average for his height. He doesn't have the explosion of a Lebron James (SMH @ that thread till this day)
Ive seen people with disabilities and real handicaps work with a lot of pride and dignity. No excuses. This is such a shame. Professionalism. Commitment. Discipline. Resilience. Persistence. good old fashioned hard work. I don't see any here. I see immaturity, unprofessional-ism, making excuses, even black mailing. some of his actions could be considered abusive to the organization. not worth it. big risk, non-big reward deal.
his actions are even Attention Seeking jeez, i really like his talents. but i don't want his character to mess this organization. I've seen the Rockets GIVE in this Give & Take relationship. I haven't seen Royce GIVE anything to the Rockets, he's just taking and taking, always finding more and more demands. Cut him lose. I'm sure the Rockets want to part ways already. They're just being smart trying to still salvage whatever possible value they could get in return for their lousy investment.
I never thought he was that good to begin with. Nevertheless, we shouldn't have to pay him legally if he isn't keeping up his end of the bargain. Also, can someone shed light onto why he is missing practice? Are these practices that are on the road before an away game? Usually anxiety disorders are triggered by something. Does he have general anxiety disorder where he gets anxious due to any stimuli?
