I have been downloading movies and videos and stuff and want to burn them to vcd's. I have checked vcd compatibility with all of my dvd players now I need to know how do I turn my mpeg, avi, and mov's into something that can play in the dvd player? I know at least one of you guys is into it. thanks! chance
You can always search download.com and find the appropriate program. However, those seldom work. If you are willing to spend money, just go to best-buy and you can buy the program for 70 bucks. I don't remember the name of that program I bought, but since I bought the cheapest one and it works fine, I'm sure most of them will work.
And also make sure to have alot of time in your hand. I once tested where I converted a movie trailer that was like 2-3mins and it took about a hour to convert it, so who knows how long it would take for a whole movie, although a kickass system with a fast processor may help too.
I just got through editing the commercials out of the Rockets vs. Lakers and am rendering it so I can make a DVD out of it... Adobe Premiere is telling me it'll take 2 days to render... hopefully that's just an estimate and it'll take a bit less. Oh, and I'm doing it on an AMD 2200+ machine with 1 GB of RAM.
Chance, What do you think of the idea of remaking Van Halen's, You Really Got Me w/ Yao really got me? It works....
Why not buy a DVD recorder to record the games, instead of going through all that? Panasonic DMR E30S DVD recorder: DMR-E30 is the world's first DVD video recorder to offer Time Slip function. It provides the extended-time recording DVD-RAM: up to 12 hours (EP mode) and DVD-R: up to 6 hours (EP mode). Its Hybrid VBR technology delivers a high-quality picture. But that's not all! DMR-E30 features simultaneous recording and playback, advanced MPEG2 encoding, Dolby Digital (Dolby AC-3) 2-channel audio recording and more.
I believe that Nero has an option for converting any video file your machine can play into a VCD (size of CD permitting of course).
Because I want to be able to edit it and convert to whatever format I want : Divx, MPEG2, avi, etc. It allows me to keep the digital format when MPEG5, MPEG6, MPEG2398438 comes along... It also allows me to do things like transitions, add text, etc. Besides, it's not like I'm doing any work other than editing the commercials out of it, and it's not like I don't have spare computers around to handle the task.
Thanks for everybody's help. I already found vdchelp.com. I was kinda looking for lazy, hold my hand and walk me through it kind of help. Any takers? Chance
Ok, then, if you are lazy..... Download and install TMPGen (get from vcdhelp) which will convert any and all video formats into VCD compliant MPEGS. Then buy/acquire a copy of Roxio EZCD Creator or NERO and use it to burn the VCD. It does take a long time to render it though, but DoD's estimate sounds a bit extreme. I guess it depends on the format of the source video. It takes me about 1.5 to 2 times play time. One downside of Roxio, is that is will not burn SVCD, which is significantly better quality. I've had mixed success with the quality of the end product.
