i don't mind harden shooting too much, at least he gets to the line alot.
what i do mind is lin shooting jumpers all day. i don't know it's on coaching staff or he just can't attack the basket anymore becuz of his knee, but it's kinda hard to watch him missing every 3s.
and i totally agree on 3.

Parsons probably plays more than he would if the Rockets had more options at the SF. He is an NBA player and will stick in the league. I don't expect star numbers from him.

Rockets want a spread four. Hopefully one of the PFs can hit them on a regular basis.

When I see DMo, I don't see Dirk. I see a guy with a lot of potential in post who may one day have a reliable shot from three point range. Dirk is a way better shooter and can create facing the basket.

    Patterson has been disappointing.

    1) Agree..he needs to let the offense come to him like in games 1 & 2
    2) Agreed. He looks scared out there at times. He needs to dish and gain confidence back in his shot. He passes up a lot of open looks.
    3) Agreed! Due to lack of post up presence
    4) Same as above. I think T Jones or D-MO will be able to fill the spot. If not, free agency
    5) Disagree. Not to sound like a Parsons homer but the guy just finished up his rookie year, he IS a stud defender (ask Kobe), and I think the reason McHale played him over Bud is his ability to get to the basket, slash, and defend. His 3 point shooting needs to improve but he has shown a much better propensity to get to the basket and score easy buckets via layups/dunks--he hasn't been as efffective there yet this year but it will come with time. You can't dismiss a talent like that so soon only 1 year, 6 games into a career.
    6) Agreed. This point ties into Jones, DMO, Smith, and Morris getting more than PPAT until he shows a willingness to rebound

seems like Terry Teagle values offense more than defense. Who'da thunk?

You want more DMo and Morris because they're more productive, and less Parsons because he does nothing well. Define production. Because all you've noted is FG attempts and who should shoot more and high % baskets.

Rebounding, defense, passing are all parts of the game too

When you said #1. Harden shoots too much, and #2. Lin doesn't shoot enough... you pretty much gave away the whole thought process behind this thread.

Look, Lin is not the best player on the Rockets. I like Lin, and think he's going to be a quality player, but he's no James Harden by any stretch.

-PatPat, Morris are shooting the 3 now because they are spacing out the floor to give Harden/Lin more room to operate in the driving lanes. Those aren't the best shots they have to take, but its what they can get open looks at in the Rockets current sets. Open looks are the key here. Ever heard the saying "take what the defense gives you"?

-The Rockets don't have a post game???... captain obvious says you are correct. The Rockets secretly do not have Hakeem the Dream on the bench ready to drop 20 points in the paint with an assortment of post moves. Second best option is to be a team that can attack the paint, and get to the rim consistently off the dribble or P&R.

The last thing you want is a team that is soley a jump shooting team that can't score in the paint in any way during crunch time. The Rockets don't have a legit low post scoring option, but very few teams in the new NBA do. The Rockets have the next to best thing though.

    - I think D-Mo will be a major player in this league in a few years, but he's not physically there yet to suit his game, and the last thing you want him to do is play out of position to start bad habits like becoming a 3 point chucker. His time will come. I think he's someone they definitely feel like will be a big part of their future in the next year or two.

This is a common trend with the newer members, not many of them see the value of a good defense.

They also don't know the Rockets put value on stretch 4s....the threes from the PF are by design, not from the guys going off the reservation.

Parsons will be the starting 3 until someone comes along that does everything he does...defense, rebounding, and the ability to slash to the basket.

Battier would have drove them positively bonkers.

So... you want one of the most efficient scorers in the NBA to shoot less? And you're disturbed, assuming he'd shoot even more often if he could, because he's getting to the line too much?

    ????

You want Lin (37%) to shoot more?

    Makes sense...

So you don't want PF's taking 3s, yet you want D-mo to have playing time....hmmmm

Lin being our #2 scorer speaks to how inept our offense is. He can attack the paint and hit the occasional jumpshot but that's about it.

If they clog the paint and prevent him from attacking, then he'll hoist up an airball.

When shooting is a dismal as the recent games, all you need to do is to camp out in the paint. When the paint is clogged, unless you have the body of Asik, there is no way you can penetrate to score unless you want injuries down the road.

Have we talked about how hard it can be to maintain a lustrous, well-groomed beard?

Jeremy Lin needs to go up stronger during layups...either that, or his vertical and strength are a concern. He is too soft at some points.

If we had Carly Landry at the 4, we'd be in awesome shape.

It's been mentioned, but McHale's lack of plays is killing our chances to win.

We are a post-scorer away from being awesome.

I'm concerned Morey is going to stay with this team and coach for too long. He should make some more moves while it's early.

Do something with Washington and get Okafor over here...or, pipedream, Al Jefferson.

The coaches are going to ruin Harden's effectiveness by over playing him like he is a PG instead of actually developing offensive plays with other players bringing up the ball.

Motiejunas is one of the few bigs on our roster to to have at least more then elementary level post moves.

Oh, i almost forgot. I'd like to complain about our atrocious cut-off-t-shirt jerseys. Did I mention the Christmas Day jerseys look pretty bad? If you haven't seen it, you should proceed with caution because it is nasty. It should actually be labeled nsfw too.

I posted this in another thread.....

We were discussing higher ticket prices for specific games and how that's not helping their view in the eyes of fans after what's presently going on with CSN. So that got me started...

-Increased food and drink prices and smaller portions.
-Perks for season ticket holders: A few years ago? Customized jersey one year, VERY NICE rockets luggage that I still use to this day another year. Last year? Nothing. Year before? A bbq set! Yay!
-Fewer general giveaways inside Toyota Center. Nowadays you're lucky if you're the 1 fan in your section to get a t-shirt. In prior years they gave away items like noise makers at every game, and small gifts very often. Now, you'll get a cheap blowup noise maker if you're behind the backboard in the lower level. That's it. Maybe this contributes to the laid back/quiet crowds?
-Crappy promotional items, except for the occasional bobblehead. Prior years? Autograph from a random player, Scola wig (now? $10 for a Harden beard), Nesting Dolls, Yao growth chart, celebriducks.

It's gone downhill over the last few years and I don't see it getting any better.

Harden needs to have good shot selection if he wants to take as many shots as he is right now. (he chucked several poor quality shots in the losing games)

I like Motiejunas' offense but on defense and rebounding he still looks lost and unready, too thin.
