FSAs were a very interesting alternative to insurance. I supported them and I actually oppose the ACA. But not for any of the reasons the mind numbingly ignorant trailer-trash do. FSAs were routinely abused by white Republicans who used the dollars for taxpayer-subsidized cosmetic procedures- rich women would get their doctors to say they had a deviated septum so they could get a nose job, for instance.
