I keep reading posts over and over about getting Webber, I think we should put some thought into this.

First we want to think that we are going to see the start of the best defense center in the NBA in Cato.[yes I really believe this]

If I am not mistaken we will have a PF next season if Mo Taylor works out with our core and works to fit with the team. If he trys to work and has a good chemistry with our group why would we want not want to sign him?

Because Webber fits well with one team and his high lights are nice doesn't mean he would fit with our group. If we have a player that does, why would we want to go and try to sign a player that we know would replace a member of the group and may not fit in as well?

I think we have enough draft choices and with the draft next year being as deep as it will be, I think we can get what we need and they will be at the age to fit in and we can then concentrate on the championship.

Mo is a good player. Webber is a great player- a superstar. I am one of Mo's supporters without a doubt. But if Webber considers coming here, then by all means we should go all out to get him. Somewhere along the line, I think we'll need to pick up that second superstar to be a championship team- preferably a big man. While Mo is a very good player, I doubt if he'll ever be a superstar. And long-term, I think we need to get another star in here at some point to be big time contenders. Webber can be just that.

Don't anybody ever suggest again that we sign Tracy Murray to a deal.

    The Cat,
My point was if we have Mo for a year an he works hard and fits well with our core[Francis,Anderson,Mobley,Cato,Thomas]. Even if webber wants to come here do we say bye to Taylor and take a chance on a long term contract with Webber and hope he fits in and if he don't who do you want to get rid of? But if you release anyone they will still be ruining the salary cap. Just something to think about.. If Mo doesn't work out then to try would be great, but I still have thoughts about getting anyone on a long term deal that might ruin, or try, the chemistry we now have.

Webber is an elite player. Possibly in the top 5 in the league. Definately top 10. You don't pass up on getting one of those if you have the chance to do so.

It's simple, Webber does everything better than MO.....he WILL fit in, that's for sure.....AND, like The Cat said, you don't pass up on webber, like u don't pass up on Payton, Kobe, Grant hill.....he's in that Category.....Besides, if he just doesn't fit, we can trade him, cause he'll be as good as before with a team he would fit with.....

Now, in recent news, Sacramento had a meeting with Mr. Webber and apparently they have a pretty good feeling about his future with them....

    Sane,

Two things. First of all, I would love to have Chris Webber on the Rockets. But I do understand EJ's concerns. Scottie Pippen HAD to fit in too. And there's only 5 to 6 big men that are absolutely superstars. If somehow you had to trade Webber, which of course most likely wouldn't happen, don't plan on getting a player anywhere near him in ability.

As for that meeting with Sacramento, all Chris did was just a courtesy thing. He would NOT sign an extension, and did NOT want to be traded. He basically said if we can be a good team (50 win type) this year, there's a good chance he'll stay. But I'm not so sure the Kings will even make the playoffs. Don't put much emphasis on rumors of what he's doing or thinking now. He won't know until next July.
