Lin I would suspect - don't know much about Adelman as a player, but then again, he did have Hayes in the post to draw the defense and Adelman is not stupid.
I can remember listening to the San Diego Rockets on the radio their last year, because I knew they were moving to Houston. I must of been about 12 at the time.
Wow...throws me for a trip. Can't believe we wore those colors, especially since Rockets fans would grow to hate the team that would be adorned with the yellow and green down the road.
Cool it is. Lived in SD back then and went to lots of games...how I became a Rocket fan. We didn't have money for tickets but my wife worked for a radio station that had free promotional tickets so we sat courtside! It was basically an expansion team and Elvin Hayes was incredible, even for a rookie. Yep, Rick Adelman was a starting guard along with Stu Lantz, who I believe is now a sportscaster maybe for the Lakers. Rox even made Pat Riley a first round draft choice...big mistake! Sitting ringside made me appreciate that pro basketball players are maybe the best athletes in the world. DR
california especially sacramento has had financial problems so it wouldn't have been all that great IMO
I started following the Rockets because they drafted Elvin Hayes. Dallas Rocket is right. He was incredible as a rookie. What always tripped me out was the name of the team. Houston couldn't have come up with a better one if we'd gotten the expansion club instead of San Diego.
then one thing you need to learn about *this* forum is that the mods dont particularly care what you think. We move/merge/delete as we see them and if we miss a few....big deal...we get to them eventually. This isnt a job, we volunteer our time to attempt to moderate this madhouse, so sometimes there isnt anyone watching over yall. You tried to bombard this forum with MULTIPLE threads that were already being discussed in threads at the top of the forum listing. They were all started in a way that made it apparent that your purpose was to piss off other members....so Clutch took away your thread starting privileges. If you would like to try for a ban, keep badmouthing the way Clutch runs this place....he generally doesnt appreciate that....especially from someone who deserved what they got...you should be grateful to Clutch, I recommended banning you flatout...he decided to give you time to figger out how to fit in.
What horrible things did the Rockets do in San Diego that prompted folks to physically get out of their house and go celebrate the fact they were leaving? I just cannot imagine people in the United States, feeling compelled to go celebrate a professional sports team leaving their city. I can imagine them being apathetic. Also, I suspect I am close to the age of your parents and I remember the Rockets arriving from San Diego, yet no celebrations in the city of San Diego.
