The only thing holding Phil Jackson back from that j-o-b is his health. Which is, of course, very significant. If he can handle the rigors of the job with a knee replacement and (I think?) hip replacement, then he's the perfect coach to blend disparate superstars. (He also only coaches sure things, so.... )
Its not that Mike Brown got fired quick after 5 games, its more like they knew he was never a good coach to begin with. They had him since last year and they knew how much of a drop off between him and Phil Jackson. So it wasn't that much to convince the Lakers that he's a bad coach and 1-4 start was enough.
Of course he is. He's still going to collect over $10 mil from them. I'd be happy to get $10 mil guaranteed for getting fired.
you are completely comparing two different things. That Cavs team had success due to good defense, this lakers suck due to bad defense. And you need 5 players to play good defense. This Lakers are just not athletic at all in perimeter.
