So tell me, with all this talent that we've got that "most fans would give their nut to have," what difference does it make if we don't win?

    Waiting for your response.

I totally think we need 2 forums for the Rockets. One for the whinning and b****ing and one for info or more positive threads. Honestly when I first came to this board, I loved it, it was real die hard fans. Fans like me who were dissapointed when the Rox where the six seed after winning the championship but still believed and supoorted the team. Now I'm not saying I don't think people should stop criticizing but we need the seperate forum so that good things, relevant things, real rumors will actually come through.

I'm just saying that for a guy that doesn't live in Houston this used to be a great place, now anything I learn here I can find on Sportcenter. And that is quite a drop. Now I only spend time here when noone at the bar wants to talk about my Rox.

    You're a r****d.

You're clearly in the minority on a day when Fran Blinebury and Jeff Balke are simultaneously, finally dissenting on the garbage that is this team.

I watch. And I'll keep watching...until the third freaking quarter when they start acting like playground aholes that won't pass to the 6 for 6, 18 points wunderkind wide open on the wing.

The dissenters just want the team to be better now that we're not just "...like 2 games behind the Spurs..."

I just want to say something about this whole 'fair-weathered fan' criticism. When the Oilers became a lame duck, I started following some other NFL teams, just for the sake of having someone to root for. I started to become a fair-weather fan of the likes of the Broncos, the Vikings, and the 49ers(don't ask why I picked these teams).

When those teams won, I get interested. When they lose, I just basically ignore them. Why? Because I don't truly care for those teams that much. This, in my opinion, is what a fair-weathered fan does.

It's only the hardcore fans who would get frustrated when they see the team do badly, when players do not perform up to their expectations. If they don't care, they'd just ignore this site for weeks or months until the Rockets play well again, then come in and start saying how great the Rockets are.

I hope you are not talking to me when calling someone an idiot and a r****d. I said I do not come here as much when noone at the bar wants to talk about MY ROCKETS. I have been a fan longer than a lot of you people with more posts have been alive. I have just gotten into this computer crap in the last couple of years, and at one time this site provided some solid news on the Rockets. Now it is all rumors and b****ing. As for fair weather fans, I never liked anyone but the Rockets, and when we won our first championship in 94, it was so sweet it paid dividends on the 17 years of waiting I had done.

I agree with AT!! You've GOT to be joking!!

I have been highly critical of the team when I feel they deserve it, and have also praised them when I feel they deserved it!! Unfortunately, I have missed some opportunities to praise them on CC.NET because I was busy celebrating in other ways.

If you think we should all make posts that sound like a Matt Jackson "analysis" then you can forget it. First, I think there are many extremely insightful, basketball-wise, and humorous posters on this Board, and some of them are critical at times.

Yes, there are "trolls" whose only mission is to b**** and moan, and that is their right. I pretty much dismiss those as fast as I dismiss those whose perspectives are looking through their pie in the sky, rose-colored glasses while defending stupidity, mediocrity and selfishness.

I am passionate about the Rockets. I am a fan (short for fanatic), and I express both emotions and thoughts. I try to be honest about both. To do otherwise would be a lie to myself and to you as well!!

I think everyone is entitle to their opinions. If everybody is positive and agree with everyone else then it would be a very boring place to visit. If there are positive things that they see I'm sur most of the fans will have positive thing to said. But when the team play poorly and you continue to As far as the Rockets go, constructive criticism should be welcome. By denying that there is a problems you will not get to the top. Team that get to the top is the one that are not satisfied with what they are doing. They continued to push themselves until they reach the top. Even if they reach the top they continued to push themselves so that they can remain on top. The day you become satisfy with yourself is the day you are going downward. Basketball is only a game. And I agree that there are much more to life than a basketball game. So obscenity and cursing people out are not calling for but there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. The fans have the right to demand the highest quality of basketball that put out there. After all, they are suppose to be the best players in the world. Why compare yourself with Cleveland unless you want to become them. If you want to improve then you should compare yourself to the best. If you want to be in the playoff then you should measure your team against a playoff team and not a lottery team. Some of the idea that people suggested might work or it might fail. But this is what make the conversation interesting. If you win the championship and people still whining then we can criticize them for their negative attitude. I think people who spend time reading this board or visit this site are die hard Rockets fans. Because there are many other things in life that they can do beside getting mad at our players or our coach. So overall I nthink people will be positive when there are reasons for them to be positive. But if the team play so poorly then they also have the right to be disappointed in the team's play.

UT Baller, you couldn't have said it better.

I know I bring this up all the time, but the past THREE seasons I got on this board and predicted the Rockets would be a lottery team. I got flamed right off the board by the a lot of the same people who are now whining like babies about every little problem they see in the team. But, when I came out and predicted Lottery seasons, I was called crazy, that the Rockets were going to be in the playoffs, etc... etc...

Now, we finally have a team that has a realistic chance to make the playoffs, and these same nincompoops who blasted me are predicting the Rockets won't even make the playoffs.

    Man, isn't life just sweet!!!! :) :) :)

You agree with AT about what? I am still not sure if you people are calling me a r****d. I come here to pick up info on the Rockets, and I find nothing here anymore that I don't find on Sportscenter.

You can say it again. I don'tblame UTBaller - I blame the wonder kid Chris Simms who on his own managed to the reduced the Standard level of quality production. Must be an Austin thing. :D

You know, I just read basketball's last post, and it is also a thing of beauty. Hell, if we all didn't disagree, and people didn't go into convulsions every time the Rockets won or lost a game, this place would be absolutely boring as all hell.

Anyway, I never thought I'd see the day when Jeff Balke and Fran Blinebury dissented on anything. Thank God that day has finally come. ;)

Cat shot 1-15 again woohoo what a game!!!! Maybe he can go 0-20 and set a new mark for futility!

It's all about perspective. It's hard not to be negative when our team is getting pasted against teams whom we should be able to compete on an equal footing. It's called human nature and absolutely has got nothing to do where you live. If Rocket fans were judged simply by their proximity to Houston, then this BBS would missing a lot.

It has become a long time between drinks and I am very thirsty. ;)

For those that are sick of all the whining threads, why don't you take some initiative and start some threads with subjects you would rather discuss? It seems to me that all you accomplish by whining about these people is you double the amount of whining.

Alright, just checked back in and damn did people have some things to say!

To DD-Man for the umpteenth time, I was wrong about Ming. Never in my wildest dreams did I think he would be doing the things he has THIS year. I have to eat a lot of things that I said about him over the summer. There, hopefully I won't have to go through that again.

To everyone else: I am not saying that people should not criticize at all, what i am saying is that all there really seems to be is criticism. If you look at different threads they all turn into a blame game jibberish. I have been a member now for 3 years, and the first 2 were the bomb. People like Popeye and the cabbage as well as others who still frequent had things to say. Now a whole bunch of people who joined once we got Ming are posting everyday just to post and the vast majority of it is just stupid. I really don't give a damn about what they are saying or that they are saying it, its just that once in a while a good thread will apear and get bogged down to death by the bickering. Tthe worst part is that a dozen people all post the exact same thing time after time so that I just have to leave. Maybe I am in the wrong or being a whiny biatch, and if that is the case then "my bad" but obviously there are others out there that share my opinion in one way or another.
