I think that both Patterson and Morris will be traded before the deadline, and that we're trying to showcase them.
Can they really be worse than this? Morris 1-7 Douglas 1-4 LOL I mean how bad can the rooks be? Did Tjones/DMo/White not blow up in SL? Don't they deserve to get PT if Morris and Douglas are shooting 1 out of whatever? I can understand if the guys in front of them are playing decently, but they're not, and we're losing because fo them. SO why not play the rooks when your rotation is already losing anyway?
The important thing to remember is that we know better about where the rookies are in their development cycle than the coaching staff that sees them play and do drills every day.
I agree. Where are these rookies Morey was so up on when we got them? I cant wait for T Jones to throw one down or White to throw a sweat pass through traffic for an assist. This team needs to run and shoot and those rookies can do that.
Real world analogy... Yes, I compared restaurant managers to NBA coaches. Not that their job duties, industry, etc. are anywhere near the same, but to help people realize that a job is a job, and an organization is an organization in many of the same ways with many of the same concerns. McHale's job is to manage the players on the court, in practice, and yes... in development. However you want the rookies to be playing now in whatever fashion, you will not have a case to be made that will not have repercussions. Explain to me one way McHale could be doing a better job with managing these rookies... try me. What... Play Jones over Patterson????.... Play White instead of Delfino at the 3????... There isn't anything you could say about this situation that hasn't already been beaten to death with no relevant explanation of a better way to handle the logjam at the PF spot.
I think we have more rookies and extremely young players than almost any team, right? In addition to our rookies we have multiple other players that have only played in D-League or very limited NBA minutes. McHale doesn't want to use a twelve man rotation. Right now he's trying to get a look at Morris, Smith, and Patterson. I suspect McHale will make changes in his rotation during the season to give other players a chance to show what they can do. It's frustrating not getting to see the rookies play, but I can see where there is a difficulty in giving minutes to all players so early in the season. We've only played four games. I think some of our rookies will probably see D-League action before they see any NBA action.
Yes they can, they can be shooting the same percentage, and also be much worse off on defense, rebounding, and being in the right position in the playcalling. I dont really want to hear anything about Morris, in 2 out of the 4 games they have played this season he has played outstanding considering the fact that he had very little preseason play due to injury. He's only a second year player, and he still has a ton of upside especially as an offensive player. Douglas' minutes are likely to be cut eventually whether it be by losing it to Machado or trade. However the case, he has managed to stay on the court by playing exceptionally well on the defensive end. He's still one of the best on the ball defensive PG's in the league. So yes, Machado might have been 2 for 7 instead of 1 for 7, but scoring is just one part of the battle. Also- I dont want to hear a peep more about Summer League. Adam Morrison was one of the leading scorers in Summer League this season... where is he now???
Where are Scott Machado, Terrence Jones, Donatas, and Greg Smith??? OMG!!! Why the **** McHale don't use these gifted young guys?!?! Somebody tell me Why!~!~!~
believe it or not NBA teams typically dont play 15 player rotations FYI. I would love to say that Rookie posters typically dont re-create thoughtless threads, but I would be lieing severly.
The Rockets are a top 10 defensive team right now, and also one of the top rebounding teams. Not sure Kenneth Faried's offense was the only reason why they lost. On defense it was their transition defense. On offense it was their turnovers, that led to fast breaks, and overall flow of the offense that kept them from scoring enough to limit fast break points even further. Their half court defense was about the only thing that was solid last night so you've well thought out thesis doesn't really support your claim that "Jones would have slowed down Faried." Just sayin
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Regardless though, I think that Jones needs to play. The kid has game.
