Anyone here a bowler? I used to bowl a lot for fun when I was just a college student (no work to keep me pinned down). But now that I have a more than full time job, I haven't gone bowling in months.... Going to see if anyone wanted to start a bowling league or perhaps just a monthly or bimonthly bowling night somewhere in the Houston area. I'd be more than happy to set it up if enough people are down.
In all seriousness though, I would be interested. Love to bowl. Just not the "rock & bowl" type setting.
My darkest secret: I once failed bowling in college. You're probably asking: 1. Where the eff do they offer BOWLING as a college course? 2. How the eff do you FAIL bowling? The answer is: 1. Texas State (then Southwest Texas) offered it. And I assume still does. 2. It was an 8am class on the other side of town. Ripe for skipping and sleeping in. Fortunately, I retook it, wiped the grade of the books, and got an "A" with a 150 avg.
Used to bowl. Went two weeks ago for the first time in 3-4 years. I had a slight equipment malfunction: <object width="640" height="480"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"></param><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/10151186002292347"></param><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/10151186002292347" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="1" width="640" height="480"></embed></object>
I'd be down for it depending on where. I'm not very good though. I score about 150 when I'm at my best. Has anyone bowled at 300 in Memorial just south of I-10? It's pretty good. Plus a full bar and a waiter to bring you your drinks. $15 all you can bowl Sunday-Thursday from 9pm-midnight.
I have not but have heard good things about it. I've been to Lucky Strike Lanes in downtown Houston. I live in the Clear Lake area, so I guess the area closest to majority should be a good starting point.
I know R2K was huge bowler. Legend has it, he was really good. I like to bowl, don't go that often, and kind of suck at it, plus I live in California and couldn't do a league anyway. But it would be fun, if I was in H-Town
Did I die and someone forgot to tell me?? Wouldn't mind getting together for a game or three, but only if it on decent lanes with some oil on them. The last clutch fan bowling thing was at a horrible gigantic game room with no lights and dry dry dry lanes. Don't think I shot over 150 on that set. Alpha in Clear Lake is nice.....Armadilla is my home house, but can't imagine it would be easy to get any of these 713 snobs to come to Pasadena. Spoiler Current count of honor score rings (two 300 rings and two 800 rings) I've actually had four 300 games, but you only get one ring per season
I am not a good bowler, I usually struggle to break 70. That being said, I have no interest participating in a league. BUT a good place to consider would be Empire Lanes on Bellaire near 610. The place is cheap for a game seeing as most of the price comes with renting shoes (assuming people in a bowling league have bowling shoes). As I recall it was somewhere in the neighborhood of $3-4/game? In the times I've been there they have had fairly regular bowling leagues going on, so I'm sure they could make accomodations for a new one.
Well as of right now, I see Alpha Lanes, Armadilla Lanes, and Empire Lanes as suggestions for places to meet up. I for one am good with the first two locations. anyone else have votes/suggestions?
hey, those things are a major b**** to achieve! I don't normally like to talk much about myself, but in this case, I'll gladly accept the mantle of Mr Showoff. Its one of the few things I do that I am really good at. the 800 refers to series. There are three major honor score awards given out by the USBC, 300 game - perfect game (12 strikes) 800 series - over 800 pins scored over 3 games (average 267 for each game) 900 series - perfect series (36 straight strikes) edit: oh and btw....tonight is my league night at armadilla in pasadena, so I can probably attend any gathering that isn't on Wed.
