... that Shandon asks for the max as well as Mo, what should we do?

Capologists, can Shandon do that? I'm under the impression that he can't, but...

If it comes down to keeping Taylor OR Anderson, what do you guys think?

Well we know how Shandon plays , most of us agree that he will only improve , lets wait until Mo plays w/us for a wile before making this tough decision.... and it is a tough decision if Mo comes in and fits perfectly .. but let's not forget we need Shandon to guard Bryan when the rocks play LA in the playoffs [IMG]

Shandon will MORE THAN "likely" wait for an even bigger payday when he gets his full bird rights.....Mo will get all the cap he deserves next season......

what I think may happen is the rockets will ask Shandon to please wait for his full birdrights so he can get the big payday he will be deserving so (if things work out) we can sign Mo to a big contract next yr. I think it would be in Shandon's best interest to wait one more yr. as he will be getting some major money !

Again, to any capologists, what will Shandon command via Bird Rights (min/max)after the upcoming season?

I don't blame Anderson if he wants to get maxed out. If Croshere is worth 50million
and Brian Grant is worth 90million I know Anderson should get maxed out.

On the other hand, Houston has worked VERY hard to establish a reputation as a team that keeps it's promises. Players like Shandon can rest assured that they WILL get their money, because Les always comes through. No matter what. Look at Matt Maloney and Dream. (I don't even want to TALK about Cato's contract)

Therefore, I don't think we have to worry about Shandon too much. He knows the deal.
On the other hand, I don't know if Falk will be that patient. My feeling is probably not. So if we intend on keeping Mo after this season we'll probably have to pay through the nose...

I say shandon should get 5.5 million, and maybe even 6......He's definately worth a bit more than 4 million, and on top of that, he's been playing for half of what he deserves for THREE seasons (or will be)....and it's not as simple as paying back what he deserved, so we pay the extra 2 million per year instead of the first three years, and because he accepted to do so, I'd be okay with giving him the 5.5-6 million...

At best, Shandon deserves to make about as much as Cato is making. Francis is the type of player that deserves the max and his time will come.

Part of it will be paying Shandon back, with interest. So if you think he should make 5-6 mill per, add about 2 mill per year for that.

JV- Will you maintain that statement if Mo gels with the team perfectly, and averages 18-8?

U can't base someone's salary's on someone else's.....It's harder to find a Center than a SG.....so that ups Cato's value already...To say Shandon deserves more than MO again is wrong, since it's harder to find another MO......I think Shandon should get, IF HE IMPROVES DRAMATICALLY, 7 million in the last year of a six year contract....average 6 million......Tat will be more than generous.....

    Sane,

You are definitely living up to you username.

I can't believe anyone here would even consider Shandon a max player. Don't get me wrong; I love the guy's game, but I think if he wants more than $6 mil per, we need to sign and trade him to a more gullible team. I honestly think his value is around $4 mil per year, so giving him a long-term contract at $6 million per year should more than make up for his two underpaid years.

We don't want Shandon to be a salary cap albatros. Save the max salaries for the franchise players.

Shandon wouldn't make the max in an open market. However, if he can average 17, while playing great defense, AS HE DID IN APRIL, he's worth 7 million.... and he needs to be slightly overpaid, in return for the last couple of years. Besides, we'll be over the cap, so it shouldn't matter how much we pay him. The point is he's a great asset, and he should be compensating accordingly. He could be one of the top 5 SGs in the West, this year.
