First off, telling me to shut up because you disagree with my opinion makes me question your maturity level. But for the sake of debate, the Rockets traded Lowry and amnestied Scola. That left them with a choice to either slightly overpay Dragic w/ that player option or overpay Lin based on 25 games and market themselves to asians. I just don't feel comfortable knowing we overpaid Lin for non basketball reasons, IMO. Had Lin did this the whole year then different story. Now what we should've done is kept Lowry and let Dragic wallk while trading Scola for a 1st rounder. Lowry's a professional and definitely could've smooth things over w/ Mchale.
Well, they didn't and you have no say, so yes shut up about it. Why do you care if they are targeting the Asian market. You seem to have something against Asians or something?
No one wanted Scola for 1st rounder. We had use our Amnesty to rid of him, to try and bid for Howard. Come on, at least do your homework a little bit. If Morey could move Scola, he would have.
False. Dragic and Lowry were out the door before Lin was even considered. At no point did anyone in the entire League or Globally - think that Lin was going to be anything but the Starting Point Guard of the New York Knicks. In the daring bid to obtain dwight howard - the Rockets found themselves without Lowry and without Dragic. At this piont and time the Rockets began to talk with Lin on a WHIM. Believing full-well that the NY Knicks would match any offer up to 1 billion dollars Rocky you have some valid points, but everytime you indicate that the Rockets traded away Dragic to get Lin. I have to shake my head.
That pick was a huge part of the Harden trade (not a "throw in"), and the Rockets couldn't get that pick without trading Kyle Lowry. And for Luis Scola... no way. Luis Scola the player is solid... Luis Scola the contract was a negative value contract. You couldn't come close to a likely lottery pick for Scola. You can lament them letting Goran Dragic walk for Lin if you want, but you can't do that with Lowry without losing the chance to get Harden.
OKC 1-2 Lakers 0-3 Want to pick someone else to talk about? The fact is, when it's about Lin, it always not lacking topics. fyi. Suns 1-2 Raptors 1-2 Rockets 2-1
no buddy im telling you to shut up... because the statements you are making and are making, and you still continue to make are false... unless you can prove otherwise... you were dumping your team to get Howard... even a casual fan like me knows what your Rox organization was up to... Lorwy and Dragic were gone before you even upped the offer for Lin in fact most Knicks fans myself included were laughing at the leaked out terms of the initial deal.... (before Morey bumped it up ) and at the fact you had lost 2 point guards within what seemed like hours to me
judging by your join date, you were probably not a Rockets fan, nor was i (obviously). so, what's it to you whether the Rockets "overpaid" Lin or should have "slightly overpay" Dragic? if the Rockets hadn't picked up Lin, would you have still opened an account to cheer on the Rockets?
I see someone signed up at Knicks board just to troll. They are purely Melo Only Haters and I see similar things here.
Clutch, do you think it would have been reasonably possible that Houston kept Lowry, and instead traded Kmart, Lamb, OUR 1st round pick, Dallas 1st round pick, Charlotte 2nd round pick for Harden instead? I love Lin, but I can't help but wonder if a Lowry+Harden combo would have been possible.
Please enough.... you are Lowry fans and Lin fans, you guys will never get anything from this discussion.... fans will always said their idol is the best, so stop it, all of them are the best, if not they won't make it to nba. Now about the paycheck, if you wanna be or you can be the GM, you can go to rockets and tell them you wanna apply as Rockets GM, tell them you can make more good decision then Morey, or you wanna coach Rockets? last: if you like lowry game or dragic game, feel free to cheer them at toronto or phx site. not in here... is it right that clutchfans have a rule? "do not bring any video or anything related to player's last team" i don't know if i am right, LIN and Harden now playing with houston, then we should talk and cheer for LIN and Harden as Rockets, not defending other player outside rockets sorry if i am wrong
He has been bashing Lin since the first post...SMH I don't know whether he is a R-fan or not... but he is a LOH for sure.
People don't know what Lin can bring on court in the future. They are rush, no patient. They can't move on. They love history just like they love their mama's feeding.
When people refer to the "Linsanity" numbers, they mean the 7-10 game stretch where he was averaging 23/8. Also, his numbers were skewed in both directions, the initial 10 games because he was the #1 shooting option, then they were skewed downward when he became the #3 shooting option behind Melo and Stat. The team make up changes your PPG averages dramatically. To use a straight ppg/apg when you're shooting solo OR when you're shooting 3rd would give you horribly skewed values. For example, Harden scored 15ppg last year. Less than Lin over 35 games, or over his 25 starts, or over his 10 game "Linsanity" run. Harden wasn't paid based upon 15ppg, he was paid based upon analysis of his game strengths and weaknesses, which Morey then projected into something resembling an expected level of performance. In terms of Lin, his pay structure was unique because he was captured under Gilbert Arena's, which restricted years 1 and 2 of his contract in terms of pay scale. This affected dramatically what they could effectively pay him and STILL expect to retain his services as a point guard. A reasonable expectation for Lin's value if he was a Free Agent would probably be anywhere from $8m-$10m per year. However, because the first 2 years could not exceed the league Average salary, it presented a unique problem. Paying Lin $9M/year would be impossible without committing to 4 years. Also, a contract of that nature would end up structured as something along the lines of 5/5/13/13. It would actually be EASIER to get Lin with 5/5/15 than 5/5/13/13 due to the way the backloaded contract impacts the matching team. Just a case in point, in one radio interview Morey said that Lin's situation was unique, and that because of the structure of the CBA and the Gilbert Arena's provision, he believes he actually got Lin substantially BELOW fair market value. And that had Lin not been subject to Gilbert Arena's, Lin could easily have gotten a larger offer. Prior to the actual free agency period, there were rumors for months that that as many as 5 teams were considering putting together offers as large as 4 years/$36M to snag Lin. However, many of them were deterred since in anonymous GM polling, 100% of the GM's polled said that they believed the Knicks would match ANY offer. Since the CBA requires teams to clear cap space PRIOR to making an offer, many teams decided not to bid at all.
Rocket fans don't read news or have short memory? Lowry was benched in favor of Dragic. Lowry wanted out of Houston and was traded in the rebuilding process and bid for Dwight Howard. Scola was also Amnestied for cap space. I didn't even follow Rockets that close and knew this.
4 days, only 17 pages? Come on we can do better. The knicks board just started another round Lin-discussion this afternoon and it's already 11 pages long.
