He was basically fired, but was allowed to save face in that classic corporate way where he's allowed to make it look like it was his decision to leave instead.
Let get coach Gundy back. We all know he wouldn't adhere to this absurd "seniority" thing that McHale is blinded by. The rookies would surely get the time they've earned with stellar preseason play once JVG is back. Without McHale holding back NBA ready guys like Terrance Jones and D-Mo, they would show everyone what late round picks can really do.
On a more serious not, I have faith in Coach Finch as an offensive mind/playcaller. It's seems to be a pretty common thought that he may be our future coach in waiting, and I'm fine with that. In the mean time, I'm someone still on-board with McHale. He's done nothing so egregious to warrant being fired, or even considered for it, after 16 months of a 4 year contract. This is the NBA. Not 2K13. Coaches actually get a fair shot at what the owners hired them to do. Most owners are professional, and don't knee jerk into firing a guy because he didn't play some rookies in the season opening win. If an owner did something like this, it would only make himself look wishy-washy in his choice to hire the guy. It's unprofessional. Les Alexander hired McHale, and will rightfully give him time to work with this young new roster, rather than blow up a staff he personally chose because of the rotation used during a 2-1 start in year 2.
Speaking of McFails, you may consider a career in fast food if you don't know the difference between a successor and a predecessor.
Yeah, like Phil is going to un-retire from his HOF carreer to coach a young team like the Rockets, where he will lose for 2-3 seasons....
McMillan ran the slowest offense in the league for years in PDX despite having a young team with the ability to run. Not a good fit here as the fastbreak is a great weapon for us.
Honestly? Rick Adelman. Because I can't change that fact. Seriously, someone please change this man's thread title for him, pre-haste.
Larry Brown is a good coach wtf. One of the Gundys would be cool. But its still early too look for a new coach. McHale can do things.
How about a Coach who has never missed the playoffs? How bout a defensive genius? How bout someone who will get the team to work as hard as humanly possible? JVG baby!
And the fickle Houston Sports fan strikes again...its been 3 games and we are 2-1 w/ three new players and barely any practice time. Stop the madness
JVG NEVER played his young guys (outside of Luther Head) and handpicked washed up Knick players to play here over developing young guys. He simply doesn't have enough patient with young players. Plus I don't think a young team would look good scoring 70 points a game
