I don't think philchips meant that Favors could reach the level of either Malone.

I think he's already better than Humphries. And he has a ton of potential, Humphries is someone who's physically much worse in every way than Favors. Humphries is bigger, longer, moves faster, jumps higher, plays with more explosiveness.

    I think he's someone you'd trade 2012 #2 overall pick for.

There are no guarantees with potential, that applies for any 21 years old guy. But he's very impressive.

only if we miss the playoffs, i'd take playoffs over a late lotto pick in a weak draft any day

Let's not sleep on Anderson Varejao! Morey has been interested in the past, and he's having a productive season so far averaging almost 11 points, 14 rebounds, 5.5 assists, & 1 block per game while shooting 53% from the field. If he stays healthy he'd flourish with the Rockets.

Don't disregard because of health concerns if most of you are considering Lamarcus Aldridge.

I repeat! Anderson Varejao! (And he won't cost max money)

It depends on what we are talking about here. If its, what 4 is worth a max contract and long term deal, Aldridge is the only one on the list even close.

If we are talking a 8-10m/year guy, then that raises other issues, like whether we could still sign a max player having done so. I doubt it unless in the process we got rid of a like amount of salary and that would mean giving up a lot of depth that we really dont have to spare at this point.

So it seems to me signing a FA is the only way to keep our depth and allow our rookies to stay on the club and develop.

With max money, we should go after TWO guys that can solidify and fit this team style. Ginobili and Josh Smith. Imagine Ginobili and Lin and Harden...all 3 guys play similar style and all of them attack the basket and can shoot...we need more of those type of players. Delfino and Ginobili are Argentinian so i am sure he doesn't mind coming over. Josh Smith is only 27 and still have good years ahead....he can help solidify the 4th position.

We need to get after those type of players. If the Lakers failed this year, go after Howard for the max, i am sure he doesn't mind playing with Harden and Lin and i am sure he will want to get out of LA if it doesn't fit. If we can't get him, then go after Bynum....he's probably the best center in the game. Have Osik come off the bench again. All these players are unrestricted free agents meaning we can sign them out right.

Im I the only one who is ok with patteson, the guy plays good D, and hits the jumper and apparently has stretched his range out to the 3, why not give him a chance.

Personally i think we need to go after a 3, now parsons is a great back up but hes not a starter and a championship team (not saying we are a championship team but thats what were suppose to be building up to be), Very limited offensively, he can dribble but not a great finisher at the rim, cant really shoot, everytime the guy shoots the 3 does anybody really think that its going in for sure, but is a good defender and passer.

I think we need a defensive sf who can hit the 3, cause harden and lin are get alot of attention when they drive, not saying were gettin him but batum would be perfect here, young battier, that type of player.

But i cant think of any at the time that are available or who are going to be free agents this summer, so for the sake of this thread I would say go after aldrige this summer. Hes got a good jumper with solid low post moves(which we need cause no one on this roster has any) would fit perfectly with lin and harden demanding all the attention leaving him open for jumpers. I think hes is better then patterson but not by 11 mil, which would be the price difference if we went after him but a star is a star so I wouldnt complain if we got him, he would make us better but how much better I really dont know.

LMA or bust. Favors will just crowd the paint on offense hindering lin and harden

Utah wouldn't trade Favors unless they got an insane offer... even though they've been bringing him along slowly, they traded D-Will for him and consider him to be their "foundational" player/the cornerstone of their future. In a couple of years that Utah team will be: good free agent PG/Burks/Hayward/Favors/Kanter....

Realistically, to allow Favors/Kanter to emerge, Utah will likely have to give up Millsap and/or Jefferson. I'm not fond of Jefferson, but I think Millsap would be a really good player to target... he's still young & is a high-energy, very efficient guy who doesn't need high usage to produce big time... Utah might be willing to trade him for something like cap space/draft pick/prospect.... he also would fit right in speed-wise with our current high-paced style and starting line-up.

If Harden is our superstar, then Lin, Millsap, Parsons, and Asik would be really good complementary pieces IMO.

he's an athlete, he'd play very well off both Harden and Lin. He's never played with a playmaker of that level.

And between him and Asik, you'd dominate the boards and inside defense every night.

But since we are talking about dream scenarios (LMA or bust? it will be bust :p )... get both Favors and Aldridge. They are a perfect fit.
