The Houston Rockets are a great team when Stevie dishes the ball. They are 16-4 when Stevie has 7 or more assists. Many people may say he passes it alot but the other guy just misses the shot. One of the first things of assignments for a point guard is to get other people in the rhythm to shoot the ball. Dishing it off to someone with 2 seconds left with their backs to the basket isn't what I call finding the best shot in the offense. Stevie might be 6'3'', but he's a 6 foot 3 inch shooting guard. He doesn't have the point guard-mentality like a Jason Kidd or a Gary Payton or a John Stockton. No, he isn't exactly a veteran... but I've seen college, or even high school point guards who have more talent in themseves then the entire rest of the team does that distributes the sphere more then Stevie. When You have someone 7'6'' in the middle, give him the ball!

allow me to add another random stat.

The Rockets are 9-1 when Francis and Mobley score 50+ points.

What's next? They are 23-0 when they score more points than their opponents?

hp, I've often wondered why a stat has no value unless you're using it. :D :)

    16-4?

    i count 11-4.

in those games steve averaged 24.1 pts, 8.7 ast, and 4.5 to
compared to his season ave of 22.9 pts, 6.1 ast, and 4.1 to

in those same games when steve had 7+ ast the Rockets shot an average of 47.1 % fg compared to their season average of 43.2 %.

it seems you can make stats tell any story you want to hear.

    C'mon.

I checked season log, Rockets are 4-3when Francis and Modley score 50+points. Won over LA Lakers,Boston, Golden State and Denver, lost to Indiana, Seatle and Menphis. Only Boston and Indian have records over 0.500. It took them 73 points to win the Laker game. That means even if Francis and Mobley score well, we are a .500 team without getting other teammates involved.

And those aren't even counting when he had another handle (based upon a bet hp started over whether Eddie Griffin would play SF or PF in his rookie season...correct hp?)...you could probably add another 2k to the total under the other handle!!!

Yeah... that is a rare occurence. Francis and Mobley aren't a 50 ppg duo. Shaq and Kobe are. Unfortunately they think they are.

When played fo Miami, Tim Hardway had some extra clauses in his contract that if he can get certain ratio of assist vs turnover,
he will get more bonus money. Rockets might consider doing
the similar thing to Steve, but it may be too late already ;)

I don't believe in that unless you're greedy. Steve doesn't have to work another day of his life and his kids will never have to work. A bigger salary or bonus as you might say shouldn't make him pass the ball more.
