I thought clippers should've offered jordan and griffin for howard.looking at pauls window and really doubting griffin will be anything more than a dunker, I thought it wuldve been the best move possible. If I'm not mistaken, atl will still have that option if cp3 and howard wants to bail.

I am wondering if Paul is going to pull a power play to move to the Lakers. The problem is it would take a third team. Pau would obviously be the guy leaving. Lakers would have to send him to a third team, who in turn sends Clippers value. Otherwise the Clippers just let Pau walk and the Lakers have no means of acquiring him through free agency.

It's a very long shot and I don't think Paul is going to leave the Clippers but until he verbally commits and their season goes well, there will still be some doubt in the back of my mind.

Maybe if Blake Griffin suffers a career ending injury.

Based on what? Clippers are a good team and have one of the deepest benches in the league. Clippers can also give CP3 the most cash.

Clips would rather Paul leaves for nothing then send him to the Lakers.

This is getting ridiculous. Actually planning to both leave your team to join forces somewhere else, what is this, creating buddy teams??

I don't like Howard or Paul. They both act like primadonna douchebags.

Chris Paul is also a dirty whiner near the level of John Stockton.

If anybody is the true loser in all of this nonsense, it's been the Mavericks. First they get spurned by Deron Williams at the last second, then Kidd doesn't re-up with them, and now all of the maneuvering they were doing to pair up Howard with an elite PG was for nothing. They never had the assets to acquire any of these major stars in a trade, and NBA teams are just incredibly unwilling to let their stars leave without at least getting SOMETHING for them in return. Thank God Morey had the foresight to stockpile talented youth and draft picks while still maintaining financial flexibility to allow us to be in a position to make a move for Harden.

Do the Mavs still have max cap room for both Howard and Paul this upcoming off-season?

I wouldn't be surprised both end up playing in Houston.

Is there a real chance that Howard may not re-sign with the Lakers?

I would imagine that there is. He doesn't strike me as the type of guy that likes to get forced into situations that aren't of his own doing. I have a feeling Kobe is going to wear very thin on him, and the pressure of playing for the Lakers isn't going to be something that he embraces. Now, from a financial standpoint, there are only a handful of teams that can offer him the max, so ultimately that will be a major deciding factor, but if that's not the end all be all for him, then he could very well bounce out of LaLaLand.
