Yeah outside of the Beard, no ones seems untouchable, at least now. Lin and a first rounder or two for Chris Paul? Asik and a two first rounders for Cousins or Love? Gotta say brass will discuss.

Wish mchale would let royce run the point for the 2nd unit but we all know real life is no nba 2k

As for the guy to play with the core four give it D-mo I hear you on all the soft talk but he's gonna have to learn n adjust to play with the big boys

Delfino will splash plenty of 3s this yr

All parsons needs to do is be consistent with his shot and free-throw shooting that's it

T-Jones is a beast waiting to be unleashed gonna be interesting to see what mchale's gonna do with his min

Pat-Pat. will have solid season love his mid range jumper when he's on its almost as automatic as scola's

    The way I see it:

    PG-Lin
    SG-Harden
    SF-Parsons
    PF-Patterson
    C-Asik

Lin and Harden are scoring playmakers, so it's all about finding the right mix of guys for our guards to make the plays required.

    I agree.

I actually think Asik is the most likely of the non-Harden players to emerge as a core player on a contending team. He has some seriously elite skills, something I don't think is true of Parsons and Lin (though I like both of them).

Parsons intangibles trumps Terrence Jones anyday.

basketball IQ, hustle, energy, playmaking ability, defensive IQ, commitment, etc.

Try Googling: "What's wrong with Terrence Jones"

josh smith would be great. maybe near the deadline atlanta will look to move him rather than risk losing him to FA this summer.

I saw Jlin and the Beard barking orders and pointing to positions in the middle of play during the offence. Is that normal, or a painfully obvious sign of lack of practice on plays and set pieces?

Good luck trying to build a core composed entirely of elite players. Basketball common sense alone will tell you this is not possible nor is it necessary. The right combination of elite players, solid players and role players makes up a good core. A simple glance back at basketball history proves this instantly.

Maybe I'm wrong, just tell me the elite 5-core 5 you're referring to.

I think 1 is obvious, as long as a Max guy wants to be here, he will be. But 2-3 I dont know about that. Lin, Asik will start, Parsons would be challenged for the SF spot. So it seems the PF spot is the ? mark. Not sure Josh Smith is max worthy, but who knows.

I personally hope if it is a trade it doesn't cost us all our rooks this year, I want Jones and Motiejunas for the future. White i am unsure of, if he gets over the fear of flying than I see him as a good player, and big asset.

Guys like Douglas, Cook, Aldrich and maybe Delfino are gone, I hope Delfino, if we can still have max money, is kept for 2013-2014. I know it's super super super early, but it's always fun to guess and look into the future.

Lol, you're greatly overestimating the value of Lin and Asik.

Harden was traded for two first rounders and a rookie who never played a game, and sportswriters were calling it a great haul. Lin is much more proven than Lamb, and Los Angeles is chock full of his fans.

    Cousins has some baggage, btw

And as great as Love is, his defense is just average, and he would have to go to teams that will use his long range shooting.

You're forgetting Martin? And Harden isn't Chris Paul... :)

(I think OKC got fleeced to be honest.)

    Max.

Would be interesting to see Lin backing up Paul, though. Like former Harden as a sixth man...

(Not that this will happen. I think he'll stay with the Clippers.)

The Mavericks will pay him the max and Cuban's left nut, if he decides to leave LA.
But I very much doubt he will.

You missed my point. My point was that until we get that second elite player, nobody other than Harden can/should be considered part of the core.
Asik, Lin and Parsons obviously aren't likely to be dealt and they could turn out to be part of this core, but until we have that second elite guy, everyone other than Harden will be on the table to get that guy.
