?????????????? is this real?? or is this just another stupid trade idea thread? if it is real, why haven't i heard about it.
Who the heck is twball news group?? Lemme guess, its a BBS, not unlike this one, where fans congregate to propose trade ideas.
I vote for a lock on this thread. It is based on an unsubstantiated rumor and is pure nonsense anyway. Why would we trade Nachbar for Giricek?
Wes Person is playing tremendous basketball, and Mike Dickerson is looking terriffic in practices, while they could use a sweet shooting, deceptively quick SF? But that's just a guess. Usually, when these things happen and they're NOT true, Clutch immediately shuts it down. But when it is true, I think Clutch looks for some answers and replies a few pages into the thread. That's why I'm intruiged. But then again, maybe I'm just hopeful.
Sane is right, but I just want to elaborate. Giricek is a 6-6 shooting guard who is NOT a defensive standout. I trust Mobley's shooting and defense a lot more, and, if pure defense is needed, I trust the Hawk more than Giricek. Second, Nachbar is waiting in the weeds, learning the game and should just now be fully healed from his hernia surgery. (Yes, it takes that long. Take it from one who knows.) Boki's potential to be a Rocket weapon is far greater than Giricek. In other words, Boki would help the Griz far more than Giricek would help the Rockets. That's why they would do it in a heartbeat.
Don't forget they've also got Pau Gasol, Drew Gooden and Shane Battier all trying to fit into the SF/PF slots. Adding an untried, Euro rookie who's unlikely to break the rotation for a guy (and I accept your points about Person and Dickerson) who is currently their starting SG? Somehow it doesn't ring true. Unless they're really desperate to get Shane Battier and Drew Gooden into the same starting line-up. I could be wrong (it's not unusual!)
Giricik is the starting SG over the last few weeks. Person is a major drain on the cap and Dickerson was reported to be considering retirement due to physical ailments and is giving it one last try according to report on Hoopsworld. Nice trade for us in getting some guard depth.
Rumor has it that Drew Gooden is on the block. Would anybody trade Eddie Griffin and Bostjan Nachbar for him?
With the Cat and the Hawk, we don't need depth unless we trade one of the two. However, that said, I wouldn't mind if they Rockets took Shane Battier off Memhis' hands. Battier -- combined with Posey -- is the type of all around glue that could make this team shine. Francis -- PG Posey -- SG Battier -- SF Griffin -- PF Ming -- C Cat -- Sixth Man Extraordinaire
There is no way the Grizz would trade Giricek for Nachbar straight up. Giricek is putting together a very decent rookie campaign. Granted, he appears to be one dimensional. However, he is average 14-15 points in the month of January and shooting 44% or so. They wouldn't trade him because they have Person and Dickerson. Dickerson is habitually injured. Who knows if he will ever be a functional player again. Person is 32 years old and is probably not the long term solution they are looking for. So far Nachbar hasn't done anything to justify his draft position, his injury notwithstanding. In the end, West would laugh at us if we offered Nachbar straight up for Giricek. I am not even sure the Rockets would offer Nachbar straight up either if they feel he is going to develop into a player.
